PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – It's the last week of September and a number of Bobcat squads are in action in Athens this week. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

MEN'S GOLF
Sept. 25-26 / at Virtues Intercollegiate / Nashport, Ohio / Virtues Golf Club / All Day / Live Results

The Ohio women's golf team is back in action this week for two events. The Bobcats begin the week Sept. 25-26 at the 2023 Virtues Intercollegiate in Nashport, Ohio. The two-day event begins on Monday, Sept. 25 with 36 holes at the 7,243 yard Virtues Golf Club. Ohio concludes the tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 26 for 18 holes. Par is set at 72. 

Competing in this year's event are: Michigan, James Madison, Marshall, George Washington, Miami, Longwood, Robert Morris, Wright State, Butler, Youngstown State, Central Michigan, Purdue Fort Wayne, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky and Bowling Green. 

Competing for the Bobcats are: Sam Hogan, Will Kates, Carson Trafford, Jack Neville and Jack O'Donnell

Ohio then heads to Richmond, Ind. on Friday, Sept. 29 for thr Indy at Forest Hills, which is set to take place at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Ohio volleyball team (6-8, 1-1 MAC) is back in action this week for three matches. Ohio begins the week on Tuesday, Sept. 26 when Ohio hosts Kent State (4-9, 0-2 MAC) in the Convo. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+. The first 150 fans in attendance will receive a free Ohio fanny pack. 

Ohio then heads to Buffalo, N.Y. for two more MAC matchups Sept. 29-30 when they take on Buffalo (12-2, 2-0 MAC). Ohio begins the weekend on Friday, Sept. 29 when they take on Buffalo at 6 p.m. inside Alumni Arena, Ohio then closes the weekend with the Bulls on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+. 

Ohio is coming off a weekend split of Akron in Athens last weekend. Last season the Bobcats went 3-1 against Kent State and Buffalo.

Ohio soccer (3-4-2, 1-1-0 MAC) is back in action this weekend for two more MAC matchups starting Thursday, Sept. 28 when they head to DeKalb, Ill. to take on Northern Illinois (2-4-3, 0-1-1) at the NIU Soccer and Track and Field Complex. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Bobcats are back in Athens on Sunday, Oct. 1 when the Bobcats host Bowling Green (3-4-1, 1-0-1 MAC). First touch is set for 1 p.m. at Chessa Field and can be seen on ESPN+. 

The Bobcats are coming off a big road win at Buffalo last Sunday, where they downed the Bulls, 1-0. 

FIELD HOCKEY

The Ohio field hockey (3-4, 1-1 MAC) team is back at home this week for another Mid-American Conference battle when Ohio takes on Longwood (2-8, 0-2 MAC) Friday, Sept. 29. First touch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Pruitt Field and can be seen on ESPN+.

Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week, where the Bobcats defeated Kent State in the final seconds on Friday, before being narrowly edged out. by No. 12 Ohio State on Sunday.  

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Sept. 29 / at Loyola Lakefront Invitational / Chicago, Ill. / Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course / Women's 6k: 12:25 a.m. EST, Men's 8k: 1 p.m. EST / Meet Information / Live Results

Both the Ohio men's and women's cross country teams are back in action this weekend for their third meet of the season. The Bobcats head to Chicago, Ill. for the 2023 Loyola Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola Chicago on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course. The women's 6k race is scheduled for 12:25 p.m. EST, followed by the men's 8k at 1 p.m. EST. 

Ohio last competed Sept. 15 at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open, where the women's finished second overall, while the men placed third overall.

The Ohio softball team begins its fall slate on Sept. 29 when the Bobcats host Hocking College. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Ohio Softball Field. 

Ohio then heads to Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 30 for the 2023 Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic hosted by Ohio State. The Bobcats will take on Tiffin at 10 a.m., before taking on Wittenberg at 2:30 p.m.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
Sept. 29 / vs Green and White / Athens, Ohio / Ohio University Aquatic Center / 5 p.m. EST

The Ohio swimming and diving team is in Athens this Friday, Sept. 29 for the annual Green and White Intersquad Scrimmage. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
