Athens, Ohio – With a week before classes start, Ohio football, volleyball and field hockey get their seasons underway on the road, while Ohio soccer continues the early part of its season in Athens. Check out that and what else ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints.Â
FOOTBALL
Aug. 26 / at San Diego State / San Diego, Calif. / Snapdragon Stadium / 7 p.m. EST / FS1 / Watch / Live Stats / Audio / Digital Guide
The Ohio football team (0-0) is set to travel to San Diego, Calif. on Saturday, Aug. 26 for its Week 0 game against the San Diego State Aztecs (0-0). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT at Snapdragon Stadium. The game can be seen on FS1 with Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman on the call.
Ohio enters the 2023 season as the defending MAC East Champions and Barstool Arizona Bowl Champions after putting together a 10-4 season and 7-1 mark in MAC play. The Bobcats were selected to finish first in the East in the MAC Preseason Poll.Â

After a stellar season opener from Ohio soccer (1-0-0), Ohio is back in action this week for two matches. The Bobcats start the week on Thursday, Aug. 24 when they host Cleveland State (1-1-0) in Athens. First touch is set for 4 p.m. inside Chessa Stadium and can be seen on YouTube. Ohio is back in action on Sunday, Aug. 27 when the Bobcats head to Annapolis, Md. to take on Navy (1-0-1). First touch is set to 1 p.m. at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility and came be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 3-0 win over Duquesne on Aug. 17, with Scout Murray, Izzi Boyd and Ella Deevers all scoring for the Bobcats, while Celeste Sloma and the Bobcats defense helped keep the Dukes off the board for a clean sheet to open the season.Â

The Ohio volleyball team (0-0) opens the 2023 season Aug. 25-27 at the LD&B Insurance Invitational hosted by James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. Ohio opens the season on Friday, Aug. 25 against UMBC (0-0). First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. inside the Convocation Center. Ohio is back on the court on Saturday, Aug. 26 when they take on host James Madison (-0-0) at 4 p.m. on ESPN+, before concluding the weekend on Sunday, Aug. 27 against High Point (0-0) at 11:30 a.m.Â
Ohio is coming off a 2022 season that saw the Bobcats finish 20-12 overall and 13-5 in the MAC and making a trip to the MAC Quarterfinals. Ohio then concluded the season in the 2022 NIVC.Â
FIELD HOCKEY

The Ohio field hockey (0-0) squad also opens the 2023 regular season this weekend when they head to Washington DC to take on American (0-0) in the opener. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Jacobs Recreational Complex. Fans will be able to watch live on ESPN+.Â
The Bobcats are coming off an 8-9 season and a 3-4 mark in MAC play. Ohio also returns All-MAC selections Katelyn Whittle and Anouk Plaehn to the roster this season, along with six newcomers.Â
