PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – It's MAC Championship time for Ohio softball and Ohio track and field and the race to the MAC Tournament heats up for Ohio baseball. Check out that and what else ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

SOFTBALL

This second-seeded Ohio softball team (30-21) heads to Oxford, Ohio for the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament May 11-13. Ohio begins the four-team double elimination tournament on Thursday, May 11 when they take on No. 3 Central Michigan (28-24). First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the Miami Softball Stadium. The Bobcats will then return to action on Friday, May 12 to take on either No. 1 Miami or No. 4 Ball State, with a time to be determined based on if the Bobcats are in the winner's or loser's bracket. 

The MAC Championship game and a berth to the 2023 NCAA Regional will take place on Saturday, May 13 at 3 p.m.

The Ohio track and field team heads to the 2023 MAC Outdoor Championships May 11-13 in Akron, Ohio. The three-day event will take place at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex, which each day scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

Competing in this year's championship are Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, NIU, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

This Ohio baseball team (17-25, 14-10 MAC) is back in action for four games this week starting on Tuesday, May 9 when they head to Huntington, W. Va. to take on Marshall (16-29). First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at the Kennedy Center YMCA. The Bobcats then head to Kalamazoo, Mich. May 12-14 for a three game series with Western Michigan (16-27, 13-10 MAC). The Bobcats begin play on Friday, May 12 at 3 p.m at Hyames Field, before continuing the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Series wraps up on Sunday at 1 p.m.
