ATHENS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio baseball team were named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (May. 16). Sophomore
Tyler Peck, redshirt sophomore
AJ Rausch and redshirt junior
Jacob Tate all earned the honor.
Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) is majoring in civil engineering and has a 3.943 GPA. The right-handed pitcher has made 16 appearances so far this season, recording two starts. In 34.2 innings pitched, Peck has retired 22 batters and been awarded one save.
Rausch (Powell, Ohio) is a communication studies major and has a 3.841 GPA. The redshirt sophomore has started in all 46 games this season, recording 49 hits and 19 RBIs in 187 at-bats. With 13 doubles, one triple and four home runs, Rausch currently has a .406 slugging percentage. He's drawn 33 walks, giving him a .384 on-base percentage.
Tate (Louisville, Tenn.) graduated with a degree in finance and a 3.905 GPA. The left-handed pitcher has made 14 appearances so far this season, making two starts. In 47 innings pitched, Tate has retired 26 batters. On the season, Tate has a 4-1 record and has been awarded two saves.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 7.
Voting for the Academic All-America baseball teams begins today, May 16, at Noon (ET) and closes Tuesday, May 23, at 11:59 PM (ET). All CSC members are eligible to vote on the ballots in their division.
The Bobcats return to action on Friday, May 18 for their final regular-season series. First pitch against the Akron Zips is set for 3 p.m. at Skeeles Field in Akron, Ohio.
