KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Ohio baseball team (18-26, 14-11 MAC) fell to the Western Michigan Broncos (17-28, 14-10 MAC) today at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field, 8-2.

Individually, fifth year Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) went 2-for-4 with one double. Both redshirt sophomore Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) recorded an RBI each.

On the mound, sophomore Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) got the start, throwing five innings and retiring four Broncos for Ohio. Sophomore Tyler Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) pitched the remaining three, striking out one batter.

Western Michigan struck first, driving in two runs with a double in the bottom of the first inning. Dolan answered the next inning, cutting the deficit to one run with an RBI single up the middle to score fifth year Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa).

After a scoreless third inning, a Western Michigan two-run home run in the fourth left the Bobcats trailing, 4-1. Kasperbauer led off the sixth inning with a walk, advancing to second when junior Cole Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) grounded out. Antle followed with a double right field, driving in Kasperbauer and cutting the Broncos' lead to 4-2.

The Broncos extended their lead in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs on two singles and a sacrifice fly. Unable to score again, the Bobcats fell, 8-2.

Up next, the Bobcats return to action tomorrow (May 13) for game two of their road series against the Broncos. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
