PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – After a successful week on the diamond for softball and baseball, both squads are back in full swing this week! Check out that and what else ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

WOMEN'S GOLF
April 3 – 4 / at EKU Colonel Classic / Richmond, Ky. / Arlington Country Club / All Day / Live Results

The Ohio women's golf team is back in action this for their final tune-up before MAC Championships. This week, Ohio heads to the EKU Colonel Classic April 3-4 at the 5,986-yard Arlington Country Club in Richmond, Ky. The two-day event begins on April 3 with 36 holes, before concluding on Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Par is set at 72. 

17 teams will be competing at this week's event, including Akron, Austin Peay, Ball State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Bradley, Butler, Cleveland State, Dayton, EKU, Georgia State, Illinois State, Marshall, Morehead State, Northern Alabama and Kentucky.

The Ohio softball team (19-14, 10-2 MAC) looks to continue its hot streak this week with four games. Ohio opens the week on Tuesday, April 4 when they head to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State (21-11). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Buckeye Field and can be seen on BTN+. Ohio is back on the road April 7-8 when they head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan (14-17, 4-4 MAC). On Friday, the Bobcats and CMU start at 3 p.m. at Margo Jonker Stadium, before wrapping up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday that is set for begin at 1 p.m. 

The Bobcats are coming off two MAC sweeps this weekend. After sweeping Akron on the road, the Bobcats returned to Athens last weekend to sweep a three-game series with Ball State, extending its winnings streak to nine games and claiming the top spot in the MAC.

This Ohio baseball team (10-14, 8-4 MAC) returns to action this week for four more games. Ohio begins the week on Tuesday, April 4 when the Bobcats host Morehead State (15-12). First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium. The Bobcats fell to Morehead State earlier in the season on the road. Ohio is back on the road April 7-9 when they head to Toledo, Ohio to take on Toledo (13-13, 6-6 MAC). The Bobcats and Rockets begin the series on Friday at 3 p.m., with games two and three on Saturday and Sunday both set to start at 1 p.m. All three games can be seen on either ESPN+ or ESPN3. 

The Bobcats are coming off a series sweep of Eastern Michigan at home last weekend.

Ohio track and field is back in action April 6-8 at the 2023 Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. The three-day event is set to take place at Morris Williams Stadium. All three days of competition are set to start around 10 a.m.
