BLOOMINGTON, Ind – The Ohio baseball team (15-20, 13-5 MAC) fell to the Indiana University Hoosiers (30-11, 9-3 BIG 10) today at Bart Kaufman Field, 9-2.
Fifth year Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) recorded Ohio's sole RBI of the game. Redshirt sophomore AJ Rausch (Powell, Ohio) and freshman Billy Adams (Medina, Ohio) each scored one run on one hit.
Sophomore Zach Weber (Lebanon, Ohio) got the start on the mound, allowing three runs on six hits and retiring three batters. Sophomore Dillon Masters (New Albany, Ohio) closed the game, pitching two innings and allowing two runs on three hits.
The Bobcats started with an early one run deficit. Minzey opened the third with an RBI single, driving in Adams to tie the game. Later that inning, Minzey capitalized on a throwing error, putting the Bobcats ahead, 2-1. Indiana quickly answered with a two-run home run to retake the lead.
Indiana tacked on six more runs through the seventh, going up 9-2. Ohio was unable to score again, falling today's game 9-2.
Up next, the Bobcats return to Athens to take on Shawnee State on Tuesday (April 25). First pitch at Bob Wren Stadium is set for 6 p.m. ET.
