ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio football team wrapped up their final day of spring camp before Saturday's scrimmage. Redshirt sophomore quarterback
CJ Harris (West Bloomfield, Mich.) is excited about the team's progress.
On wrapping up spring camp
"It feels great. It's been a long 14 practices—about to be 15 on Saturday. I think we've gotten better, and that's the goal for the spring, to get better and improve. In the end, I can definitely say we did that."
On his favorite part of spring camp
"I think it's just that we're getting back to football. After the season's over, we work out with Coach Miller and the rest of the group doing conditioning. Once spring ball starts, you get back to playing football and it's like being a kid and going to recess again—super fun."
On team goals for the 2023 season
"Honestly, just trying to get better. We won the bowl game, we won 10 games and for myself, I did get Bowl MVP, but at the end of the day, I'm still not Tom Brady, I'm not Aaron Rodgers. We all have to get better. So I think for us, it's about continuing to work on our craft, improving ourselves and hopefully going for 12 wins instead of 10."
On the team's "next man up" mentality
"It's most definitely an Ohio thing. There's a lot of guys on the team who had to step up in times where we needed them, and I think that speaks to our culture and the guys we have on the team. It shows the pride and enthusiasm that the team has for each other."
On going from the "hunter to the hunted"
"For us, last year, it was more like being the hunter looking for everyone else's weaknesses. Now, it's us trying to see what our weaknesses are so we can fix them before other teams spot them."
