PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – Spring has sprung in Athens and its the perfect week for some diamond sports and football's Spring Scrimmage! Check out that and what else ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

FOOTBALL
April 10 / Spring Scrimmage / Athens, Ohio / Peden Stadium / 11 a.m. EST 

It's the official end of spring football for the Bobcats, so that mean's its time for the annual Spring Scrimmage ad Equipment Sale. Both events will take place on Saturday, April 15, with the Spring Sale opening at 9:30 a.m. to those who have already purchases season tickets and 10 a.m. for the general public. 

At 10 a.m., Kids Fest presented by the Athens County Children Services begins in the Walter Fieldhouse, with the actual scrimmage set to begin at 11 a.m. The scrimmage is expected to end anywhere between 12:30 and 1 p.m., so get there early for all the festivities.

The MAC-leading Ohio softball team (21-16, 11-4 MAC) returns to action this week for six more MAC games. The Bobcats begin the week in Athens April 11-12 when they host Kent State (9-23, 4-6 MAC) for a three-game series. The two teams open play on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Ohio Softball Field. The teams conclude the series on Wednesday with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. Ohio then hits the rad for three more games April 15-16 when they head to DeKalb, Ill. for a series with Northern Illinois (17-17, 8-6 MAC). The teams open play with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. EST, before wrapping up the series on Sunday with a game set to begin at 1 p.m. EST. 

The Bobcats are coming off a 2-2 week that saw the Bobcats defeat Ohio State, 1-0, in nine innings in Columbus.

This Ohio baseball team (13-15, 11-4 MAC) are back in Athens for four games at Bob Wren Stadium. Before returning to MAC play, Ohio plays host to Marshall (13-16) on Tuesday, April 11, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. After the midweek, Ohio returns to MAC play April 14-16 when the Bobcats host Miami (9-24, 6-9 MAC) for the diamond version onf the 'Battle of the Bricks'. The teams open the series on Friday at 6 p.m., before returning to action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Bobcats and RedHawks wrap up the three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. 

The Bobcats are coming off a series sweep of Toledo on the road last weekend.

TRACK AND FIELD

Ohio track and field is back in Athens for the annual Cherry Blossom Invitational on April 15. The event is scheduled to begin with field events at 10 a.m. Track events are set to start at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's 5000m race, with Senior Day recognition scheduled to begin at 11:50 a.m. 

The full event will be streamed on YouTube.
