PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – Spring is in the air and baseball and softball are back in Athens this weekend! Check out what's ahead in Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 
 
MEN'S GOLF
March 27 – 29 / at Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate / Pawleys Island, S.C. / True Blue Golf Club / All Day / Live Results

The Ohio men's golf team is back in action this week for the 2023 Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate March 27-29 at the 6,989- yard True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. The three-day event starts on Monday with 18 holes, followed by the final 36 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Par is set at 72. 

18 teams will be competing at this week's event, including Jacksonville State, Winthrop, Troy, Valpo, UConn, High Point, SIU, Wichita State, Xavier, Austin Peay, Delaware, Loyola Chicago, Evansville, Marshall, Central Arkansas, Northern Colorado and Western Illinois. 

For the Bobcats, Sam HoganWill KatesCarson TraffordJack Neville and Matt Daulton will compete. 

WOMEN'S GOLF

The Ohio women's golf team is back in action this week for the 2023 Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate March 27-29 at the 6,003- yard Caledonia Golf and Fish Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. The three-day event starts on Monday with 18 holes, followed by the final 36 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Par is set at 71. 

17 teams will be competing at this week's event, including Coastal Carolina, UNC Asheville, North Dakota State, Akron, Gardner Webb, Morehead State, James Madison, St. Thomas, FGCU, East Carolina, Illinois-Chicago, Marshall, Evansville, UNCG, Western Illinois, Northern Colorado.  

For the Bobcats, Mackenzie McRee, Thanya Arasu, Mariana Vega-Rivera, Sydney Longstreth and Avery Ovens will compete.

The Ohio softball team (13-14, 4-2 MAC) is back in action for six games this week. The Bobcats open the week on the road when they head to Akron, Ohio for a three-game series with the Zips (14-11, 2-3 MAC), March 25-26. The Bobcats and Akron open play on Tuesday, March 25 at 3 p.m. at Lee R. Jackson Field, before concluding the three-game series on Wednesday (March 26) with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Ohio then heads back to Athens for a three-game series with Ball State (14-12, 4-1 MAC). The first two games of the series are scheduled for Saturday, April 1 starting at 1 p.m., before the two teams conclude the series on Sunday at Noon at the Ohio Softball Field. 

The Bobcats are coming off a three-game sweep of Bowling Green last weekend.

This Ohio baseball team (7-14, 5-4 MAC) is back in Athens this weekend when they host Eastern Michigan (10-10, 4-5 MAC) for a three-game series at Bob Wren Stadium. The weekend begins Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m. The two teams are back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m., before closing the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. 

The Bobcats are coming off a series victory at Northern Illinois last weekend.

Ohio track and field is back in action March 31-April 1 when they head to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in the 2023 Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by Cincinnati at Gettler Stadium. Events on Friday will begin at 10:30 a.m., while competition on Saturday will start at 10 a.m. 

Ohio is coming off a successful weekend at the Raleigh Relays.
