Akron, Ohio & South Bend, Ind. – The Ohio track and field team competed at the Meyo Invitational and Akron Invitational this past weekend (Feb. 3-4).
Meyo Invitational
In the 5000m, sophomore Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) took third in 16:58.12, while freshmen Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) and Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) made their debut in 17:07.41 (fifth) and 17:36.06 (12th).
The Bobcats continued to see success in the 3000m with two PRs. Sophomore Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio) placed seventh overall, clocking a 9:55.00 while freshman Allie Martin (Kingwood, W.Va.) finished first in her heat with a time of 10:05.33.
Fifth years Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) and Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) took third and eighth in their heat, clocking a 4:57.77 and 5:03.35 in the mile. Pierce also competed in the 800m, running a 2:16.17.
Akron Invitational
In the short distance event, freshman Josie Knierim (McConnelsville, Ohio) took second in the 60m and 200m dash. Knierim improved her prelim time of 7.75 to 7.69 in the 60m final and ran a lifetime best of 25.19 in the 200m. Red shirt senior Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.) and freshman Rhiea Gordon (Youngstown, Ohio) topped their 60m prelim times as well, running 7.81 and 7.96 to take fourth and eighth.
Graduate student Larissa Manciaz (Eagle Lake, Texas) also competed in the 200m, clocking a 25.86 and placing fifth. Manciaz, picked up another fifth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 58.03.
In the 800m, freshman Jenna Razavi (Medina, Ohio) finished seventh with a 2:21.84. Meanwhile in the mile, junior Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) placed third, clocking a 5:08.49 with freshman Sara Doughman (South Lebanon, Ohio) taking fourth in 5:09.93.
Sophomore Sarah Liederbach (Petoskey, Mich.) finished out the distance events with a time of 10:25.42 in the 3000m and a third-place finish.
In the field events, junior Imani Brown (Crown Point, Ind.) took first in the high jump with a seaon-best jump of 1.63m, while sophomore Michaela Frey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) placed sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 3.30m.
In the long jump, senior Kassidy Betzing (Pomeroy, Ohio) and junior Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) finished fourth and fifth with jumps of 5.27m and 5.15m. Â McKenzie improved to fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.10m.
Fifth year Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) closed out the field events with a sixth place finish in the shot put, throwing 13.04m.
Up next, Ohio will travel to Geneva, Ohio to compete at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games on Feb. 11.
