TOLEDO, OH.– The Ohio women's basketball team (3-16, 1-7 MAC) is staying on the road after defeating Eastern Michigan Wednesday (1/1) night. They Bobcats will travel to Toledo and face the Rockets (15-5, 8-3) this Saturday (1/4) at 2 pm. The game will be played at Savage Arena and will be available to stream on ESPN3.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Saturday's (1/4/22) contest will be the 49th tipoff between the two Ohio based schools in recorded history. Ohio has seen Toledo in the MAC for decades now, always proving to be a tough matchup with the current all-time series standing at 31-47. The Bobcats are trailing the Rockets by 16, and are looking for a another win to close the gap in the all-time series.
LAST TIME OUT
Ohio's most recent matchup against the Toledo Rockets was in the 2022 MAC Tournament on March 9th of last spring. This was a tough game for the Bobcats as they faced the top-seeded team in the MAC in their first round of the post-season tournament. Ohio ultimately fell to the first place MAC team 67-80 before Toledo fell to Ball State in the semi-finals. In their last time out, Ohio was led by their three seniors; Erica Johnson with 25 points, Cece Hooks with 22, and Gabby Burris with 13. For Toledo, Quinesha Lockett finished the game with 19 points and five rebounds, while Sophia Wiard added 19 points and nine rebounds. MAC PLAY
Both teams are far into MAC play for the 2022-23 season with 10 games under their belts. Ohio has fallen to: Akron, Kent State, Buffalo, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Ball State, but have defeated their rival Miami in overtime, and most recently, the Eastern Michigan Eagles, to give the Bobcats a 2-8 record in the MAC. The Rockets currently hold an 8-2 conference record, defeating: Western Michigan (71-53), Ball State (83-76), Kent State (77-68), Akron (76-63), Miami (82-63), Eastern Michigan (79-73), and most recently Central Michigan (00-00). Toledo has only fallen to NIU by 1 (66-67), and Bowling Green (76-88).
SCOUTING TOLEDO
Toldeo's last matchup was against Central Michigan on Wednesday (1/1) night where the Rockets defeated the Chippewas 74-60. They were led by Sammi Mikonowicz with 19 points, Quinesha Lockett with 15, and Sophia Wiard with 14. With all three scoring in double figures, Toledo went 30-of-63 from the field, 5-of-19 from the three, and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Sammi Mikonowicz also led the Rockets in rebounding in their last time out with 13 total; 2 offensive and 11 defensive, while Jessica Cook led in offensive rebounding with 5.

In the Bobcats last contest, defeating the Eastern Michigan Eagles they were led by Yaya Felder once more with 24 points, hitting double figures once more. Abby Garnett followed with 10 points and Jasmine Hale was next securing 9 for the Bobcats. Kroll and Garnett led on defense with 6 rebounds apiece. Abby Garnett also grabbed 2 steals and 2 blocks for Ohio.
NOW LEADING OHIO
Throughout the 2022-23 season, Ohio has been led on the offense by sophomore guard, Yaya Felder in scoring. Felder currently totals 409 points for the Bobcats, now averaging 20.5 a game, putting her in the top 30 of the nation. Caitlyn Kroll follows with 185 points, and behind her is Abby Garnett with 144 points. Caitlyn Kroll also leads Ohio in rebounds, totaling 120; 107 defensive rebounds and 13 offensive. In terms of steals Yaya holds 46 for the season and Kroll is behind with 38. Leading in blocks is Ella Pope with an impressive 14, followed by Garnett with 12.
