Ohio Women's Basketball will Host the Miami RedHawks on Wednesday Night

ATHENS, OH.– The Bobcats (6-21, 4-12 MAC) will play their cross state rivals, The Miami RedHawks (11-18, 6-10 MAC), this Wednesday night (3/1) at the Convocation Center. The matchup will mark the teams' second meeting of the 2022-23 season, with the Bobcats last defeating Miami in overtime on Jan 21st. Both the Bobcats and the RedHawks are still looking for a spot in the MAC postseason tournament, making the contest even more of a battle. Tipoff in the Convo is set for 7pm and the game can also be streamed on ESPN+. 

ALL-TIME SERIES
The cross state rivals will face off against one another    for the second time in the 2022-23 season. The Bobcats are looking for a second win in a row to add to their victories in the all-time series. Currently, the record stands at Ohio-40, Miami-58. The Bobcats are trailing by 18 games to the RedHawks and are eager to keep closing in on the Miami lead. 

LAST TIME OUT 
The Bobcats last went head-to-head against the RedHawks at the end of January, 2023. Ohio was on the road in Oxford, and the matchup was one of the most exciting games of the Bobcats season, heading into overtime and defeating their known rival 84-73. There were several offensive leaders in their last matchup from both teams, but the Bobcats claimed the two highest scorers; Yaya Felder who had 28 points and Caitlyn Kroll who grabbed 20, followed by Miami's Ivy Wolf with 19. Overall, the Bobcats went 25-of-62 from the field, 9-of-21 from the three, and 25-of-35 from the line and Miami went 24-of-74 from the field, 6-of-31 from the three, and 19-of-28 from the line. With the last time out finishing in overtime, both teams are hungry to recreate the competitive spirit on Wednesday night.  

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami most recently faced the Akron Zips, falling 80-88. The game was a heartbreaking road loss for the RedHawks, as they were looking to better their position in making the post-season tournament. Overall, Miami was led in scoring by by Maddi Cluse and Sierra Morrow with 18 points apiece, followed by Amani Freeman with 17. Miami had 5 players reach double figures in scoring against the Zips and had Maddi Cluse reach a double double. Cluse aslo led the RedHawks in rebounding, grabbing 11 in total; 10 defensive and 1 offensive. Peyton Scott was also a team leader with 8 assists and 3 steals. 

LEADING MIAMI OF OHIO
Throughout the entirety of the season, the RedHawks have been led on offensive by Ivy Wolf with 477 accumulated points, averaging 16.4 a game. Wolf is closely followed by Maddi Cluse with 435 total points, averaging 15 a game. Maddi Cluse also leads the team in rebounds with 231 rebounds this season; 191 defensive, 40 offensive, averaging 8 a game. Other leaders on the Miami roster are: Sierra Morrow with 44 blocks, and Peyton Scott with 42 steals. 

PROJECTED MIAMI STARTERS
Over the course of the season, Miami has had a solid starting 5, with minimal shifts in the lineup. The projected starting 5 for Wednesday are: (#4) Ivy Wolf, (#1) Maddi Cluse, (#34) Amani Freeman, (#2) Sierra Morrow, and (#24) Peyton Scott. 

YAYA CLAIMS DOUBLE FIGURES
Throughout the 2022-23 season, Ohio's Yaya Felder has reached double figures in 24 out of the Bobcats 27 games. Her highest scoring game was played against Central Michigan on 1/25/23 where she grabbed 40 points for the Bobcats. Felder continues to dominate on offense and stands at the top of the league, averaging 21.1 points a game. 

OHIO'S MOST RECENT STATS
The Bobcats ended their last game going 17-of-49 (34.7%) from the field, 5-of-24 (20.8%) from the three, and 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the line. Ohio also grabbed 31 rebounds, 8 steals, and collected 9 assists.

LAST TO LEAD
On Saturday afternoon the Bobcats were led by Yaya Felder on offense totaling 23 points, followed by Abby Garnett with 10 points, and Jaya McClure with 8. Yaya also led the Bobcats in rebounds, grabbing 7 for the team, with Kate Dennis and Cassidy Lafler close behind at 6 apiece. It was Jaya McClure who led in steals reaching her career high of 7 in a singular game, along with leading Ohio in assists with 4, proving to be an offensive asset. 

NOW LEADING OHIO
Throughout the 2022-23 season, Ohio has been led in scoring by sophomore guard, Yaya Felder. Felder has hit double figures in 24 games this season and currently totals 571 points for the Bobcats, averaging 21.1 a game. Caitlyn Kroll follows with 209 points, and behind her is Jaya McClure with 190. Caitlyn Kroll also leads Ohio in rebounds, totaling 147; 125 defensive rebounds and 22 offensive. In terms of steals Yaya holds 57 for the season and Kroll is behind with 42. Leading in blocks is Abby Garnett with 17, followed by Ella Pope with 14.
