WILMINGTON, N.C.— The Ohio baseball team (0-1) fell to the UNC Wilmington Seahawks (1-0) Friday evening (Feb. 17) at Brooks Field, 14-10.

Individually, junior Alec Patino (Sioux City, Iowa) led the team, going 3-for-3 with one double, one home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Fifth year Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) went 2-for-4 with a homerun, two RBIs and four runs scored while redshirt sophomore Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

The Seahawks took 5-0 lead in the bottom of first. Patino put the Bobcats on the board in the top of the second, driving in Minzey with a two-run home run to left field. A UNC Wilmington double drove in two runs in the bottom of the inning, extending the Seahawks' lead to 7-2.

With two outs in the top of the third, a two-run home run from Minzey cut the deficit to three, but an RBI single followed by a bases loaded walk for the Seahawks put the score at 9-4. The next inning, UNC Wilmington scored their 10th run off a fielder's choice.

Fifth year Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) scored on a foul ball to left field in the top of the fifth. Dolan followed with a single to center field, driving in Patino and putting the score at 10-6. UNC Wilmington tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the inning with a single down the right field line.

After a scoreless sixth, an RBI single from junior Cole Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) put the score at 12-7, but two Seahawks RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh left Ohio trailing by seven. The Bobcats answered in the eighth, scoring two runs off an RBI double from Patino. Dolan took advantage of a wild pitch in the top of the ninth, scoring Ohio's last run of the game and putting the final score at 14-10.

Up next, the Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18 when they take on the No. 19 Virginia Cavaliers. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen on FloBaseball.
