LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Ohio swimming and diving team returned to action on Thursday evening (Nov. 16) for the first day of the TYR '85 Invitational hosted by Liberty. The Bobcats opened the invite with several solid performances in long course events.
After the first day, Ohio is in third with 198 points.
Ohio opened their night with a victory in the 50 LC meter freestyle, with freshman
Zita Szoke (Hodmezovasarhely, Hungary) placing first with a time of 26.89.
In the 100 LC meter race, senior
Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) picked up a second-place finish, touching in with a time of 1:00.56. Then in the 100 LC meter breaststroke, sophomore
Casadie DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio) placed second with a time of 1:10.72.
The Bobcats picked up the top-two spots in the 100 LC meter freestyle, with Szoke finishing first in 56.83, followed by graduate student
McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) in second, finishing with a time of 57.76.
Sophomore
Emily Ellsworth (Westerville, Ohio) earned a win in the 200 LC meter breaststroke, finishing the race in 2:32.75.
The Bobcats are back in action for day two at the TYR '85 Invite on Friday, Nov. 17. Prelims are set to state at 10 a.m., with finals scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
