Ohio Volleyball Sweeps Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ohio volleyball team (17-12, 12-5 MAC) earned its fourth-straight win with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-19, 25-15) at Central Michigan (14-15, 8-9 MAC) on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Sophomore Anna Kharchynska (Kyiv, Ukraine) led the team with 13 kills, a career-best .813 hitting percentage, four blocks and 15.5 points. Junior Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied 13 kills, five digs and 12.5 points while freshman Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) recorded 11 kills, five digs and 13 points.

Senior Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) added to Ohio's offensive success with 35 assists. At the libero position, senior Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) tallied a team-high 17 digs.

The first set started with some back-and-forth between the two teams, but several scoring runs separated the Bobcats from Central Michigan. A three-point run at the end of the match helped Ohio gain an early 1-0 advantage with a 25-18 win.

Ohio increased its lead to 2-0 after earning a 25-19 victory in the second set. The team recorded 15 total kills to Central Michigan's nine and amassed a .355 hitting percentage.

In the third and final set, the Bobcats showed off with a dominating performance. Ohio had two significant scoring runs that lifted the team past the Chippewas. Early on in the set, the Bobcats scored six-straight points off of three kills from Kharchynska, two kills from Clippard and a kill from graduate student Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.). Ohio was leading 21-15 before going on a five-point scoring run to win the set, 25-15, and the match.

The Bobcats will be back in action at Kent State for its regular season finale on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. ET.
