ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio men's basketball team (1-0) returns to action On Saturday, Nov. 11 when they head to Cleveland, Ohio to take on Cleveland State (1-1). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. inside the Wolstein Center. The Bobcats matchup will be seen on ESPN+. 

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 16th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats" and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornlius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades. WXTQ (Power 105) in Athens returns as the 11-station network's flagship.

SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State enters the matchup with the Bobcats with a 1-1 record after defeating Defiance, 102-41 Wednesday in Cleveland. 

CSU was selected to finish fourth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll, while Tristan Enaruna was selected to the preseason all-league first team.

Overall, Cleveland State averages 89.5 points a game, while shooting .528 from the field, .429 from three and .654 from the line. CSU also averages 38.0 rebounds a game, 15.0 assists and 14.5 steals a game. CSU also forces 21.5 turnovers a game. 

Meanwhile, Opponents average 60.0 points and 32.5 rebounds a game. Opponents also shoot .385 from the field, .294 from three and .583 from the line. Opponents also dish out 14.0 assists and grab 4.0 steals a game, while also forcing 11.0 turnovers a game. 

Individually, Drew Lowder averages 17.0 points per game, while shooting .500 from the field, .571 from three and 80 percent from the line, while also averaging 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. The Bobcats opened the 2023-24 season with an 88-70 victory over Troy Wednesday night in Athens. 

Overall, Ohio is averaging 88.0 points per game, while shooting .450 from the field, 270 from three and 84.4 percent from the line. The Bobcats also add 32.0 rebounds, 12.0 assists and 9.0 steals per game, while forcing opponents to turn the ball over 17.0 times a game. 

Meanwhile, Opponents are averaging 70.0 points a game, while shooting .390 from the field, .273 from three and .720 from the line. They also average 40.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.0 steals and force the Bobcats to turn the ball over an average of 7.0 times a game. 

Individually, AJ Brown leads Ohio with 24.0 points a game, while shooting .667 from the field, .600 from three and grabbing 6.0 rebounds. Elmore James is right behind him, averaging 20.0 points, while shotting .538 from the field, .667 from three and 1.000 from the line, while also snagging 6.0 rebounds. Dwight Wilson III led with a game-high 14 rebounds and Elmore James (Cleveland, Ohio) added eight points for the Bobcats. 

As a team, Ohio shot 52 percent from the field, 55 percent from three and were 17-of-19 from the line, while Cleveland State shot 45 percent from the field, 38 percent from three and were 14-of-24 from the line. Both teams pulled down 32 rebounds, while Ohio dished out eight assists and forced 13 turnovers, scoring 19 points off them. CSU dished out 14 assists and had seven steals, while forcing 13 turnovers.

For CSU, the Vikings were led by Yahel Hill with 20 points, followed by Tae Williams with 12. Deante Johnson added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Brown began that journey effortlessly on No. 8 against Troy, leading Ohio with 24 points, going 10-of-15 from the field and grabbing six rebounds in the 88-70 victory. 

SOPHOMORE YEAR (ELMORE'S VERSION)
Sophomore guard Elmore James is looking to make a name for himself this season. 

That plan started out on the right track on Nov. 8 against Troy, with James scoring 20 points, going 7-of-13 from the field, grabbing six rebounds, snagging two steals and going perfect from the line in Ohio's 88-70 victory over Troy. 

JAYLIN ON THE HUNT
Senior guard Jaylin Hunter is looking to make the most out of his final season. 

In the season opener, Hunter was effective with the ball, dishing out four assists and going a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. 

THE WIZ MAKING THE MOST
Senior center Gabe Wiznitzer is looking to take a step forward this season. 

On Nov. 8 he made the most of his minutes, grabbing a game-high seven rebounds and recording two blocks in 16 minutes in Ohio win over Troy.   

ONE LAST TRIP FOR MILES
Fifth year guard Miles Brown is looking to make the most of his final season in the Green and White. 

Brown was steady in his season debut, adding nine points, a steal and a block in Ohio's win over Troy. 

SHEREEF MAKES HIS DEBUT
Graduate student Shereef Mitchell made his Bobcats' debut on Wednesday night, scoring eight points, dishing out three assists and going 4-for-4 from the line in his 16 minutes off the bench. 

MAC PRESEASON NOTES
The Bobcats were selected to finish third in the MAC Preseason Poll. 

Senior guard Jaylin Hunter was named to the All-MAC Preseason First Team. 

Sophomore guard AJ Brown was named to the All-MAC Preseason Second Team.
