CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced the 2023 MAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and Award Winners today (Oct. 31). The Bobcats had four student-athletes recognized for their performances during the 2023 season.
Ohio's Shae Robertson, Quintin Tostevin, and Celeste Sloma were selected to the All-MAC Second Team. Jaimason Brooker was named to the All-Freshman team.
"I am very proud of our team for creating an environment where we push each other to be their best and celebrate the success of each other. I know these All-MAC players share these awards with their teammates," Head Coach Aaron Rodgers said.
Senior Shae Robertson (Lexington, Ky.) was selected for the All-MAC Second Team after leading Ohio in goals during the 2023 season. Starting in 15 of 19 games, Robertson recorded eight goals during the season, which included three game-winners. The Bobcat forward scored six goals in 11 conference games including two on the road at Northern Illinois (Sept. 28). In one of the Bobcats' final games of the regular season, Robertson scored with just more than 30 seconds remaining. The goal helped Ohio tie Central Michigan and earn a decisive point. With her eight goals on the season, Robertson has moved to eighth-place in the Ohio Women's Soccer Record Book.
Junior Quintin Tostevin (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) was named to the All-MAC Second Team for her efforts on the defensive end of the field. One of the three defenders in Ohio's back line, Tostevin was key towards the Bobcats limiting opponents to just 17 goals on the year. Tostevin also assisted Robertson's equalizing goal against Central Michigan (Oct. 12). The goal provided the Bobcats with a crucial point that guided Ohio into the sixth seed. Tostevin started in all 19 games, playing for the full 90 minutes in 12 of them.
Sophomore Celeste Sloma (Columbus, Ohio) was recognized as one of the top goalkeepers in the MAC during the 2022 season. Playing in every minute of all 19 games, Sloma only allowed 17 goals, resulting in a goals against average of 0.895. The Bobcat goalkeeper recorded 76 saves on the year, including one game with eight and five with seven. Sloma was heroic in Ohio's 1-0 win over Eastern Michigan (Oct. 22). A diving save in the final few moments of the match helped the Bobcats earn a crucial three points.
"Shae has had a wonderful senior year leading the team in goal scoring and defending from the front. Quintin has truly developed into one of the finest defenders in the league and I know our team believes that Celeste is the top goalkeeper in the league," Rodgers added.
Freshman Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) was a key contributor for the Bobcats during her first season in Athens. Starting in 10 of 19 games for the Bobcats, Brooker scored one goal and added two assists. Brooker's versatility was paramount for Ohio as her ability to play up front and the midfield was crucial through the long season. Brooker was crucial for Ohio down the stretch, picking up an assist on the game-winning goal over Akron. Her assist helped the Bobcats secure the sixth and final spot in the MAC Tournament.
"Jaimason has contributed very well as a freshman and has a great future ahead of her as do many of the other freshman that could have easily received the award too."
Ohio is set to take on Bowling Green this Thursday (Nov. 2) in the MAC Tournament semifinals. Ohio fell to the Falcons at home earlier this season by a score of 2-0, but will look to bounce back in Kalamazoo.
