PAW PRINTS: The Week Ahead in Ohio Athletics

Athens, Ohio – Happy Dad's Weekend Bobcats! It's MAC Tournament Season for field hockey and soccer, while men's and women's basketball play in the Convo for the first time this season, and wrestling opens the 2023-23 season on the road. Check out everything that's ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week's Paw Prints. 

MEN'S BASKETBALL 
Nov. 2 / vs Otterbein (Exh.) / Athens, Ohio / Convocation Center / 7 p.m. EST / Live Stats / Roster Card / Tickets 

The Ohio men's basketball team steps foot on the Convocation Center for the first time this season on Thursday, Nov. 2 when the Bobcats host Otterbein for its annual exhibition game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Once again, due to coach's decision, the game will not be streamed online or on radio. 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Ohio women's basketball team steps foot on the Convocation Center for the first time this season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 when the Bobcats host Marietta for its annual exhibition game. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Once again, due to coach's decision, the game will not be streamed online or on radio. 

MEN'S GOLF
Oct. 29-31 / at Bryan National Collegiate / Greensboro, N.C. / Bryan Park / All Day / Live Results  

The Ohio men's golf team concludes the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 29-31 at the 2023 Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro in Greensboro, N.C. The three-day event begins Sunday, Oct. 29 with 18 holes each day before concluding on Tuesday, Oct. 31. 

Competing at this year's event are: UNCG, Elon, Tennessee Tech, South Dakota, William and Mary, High Point, Marshall, George Mason, Winthrop, Queens, Delaware, Ohio and NC A&T. 

In the lineup for Ohio is Sam Hogan, Will Kates, Jack Neville, Carson Trafford and Matt Daulton, while Jared DeVille competes unattached.

After a thrilling last week that sent the Bobcats to the MAC Tournament, Ohio was able to secure a victory in the quarterfinals against No. 3 Ball State to advance to the MAC Quarterfinals this weekend.

No. 6 Ohio soccer (7-7-5) is back in action for the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 2 when Ohio heads to Kalamazoo, Mich. to take on No. 2 Bowling Green. First touch is set for 11 a.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex and can be seen on ESPN+. With a win, the Bobcats would advance to the MAC Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. against the winner of #1 Western Michigan or #4 Kent State.  

Ohio is coming off a week where the Bobcats beat Akron, 3-0, to make the tournament and went on the road to defeat No. 3 Ball State, 2-0 on Sunday. Senior Izzi Boyd was also named the MAC Player of the Week.

The No. 4 Ohio field hockey (6-9 MAC) team begins play in the 2023 MAC Tournament on Friday, Nov. 3 when the Bobcats head to Oxford, Ohio to take on No. 1 Miami (12-7). First touch is set for 11:30 a.m. at the Miami Field Hockey Complex. 

With a win, Ohio advances to the MAC Championship match on Saturday, Nov. 4 against with winner on No. 2 App State and No. 3 Kent State. 

VOLLEYBALL

PROMOTIONS: Fan Appreciation and Joe Burrow Foundation Match 
  • We will be giving away AirPod Pros to one lucky student and gift cards to two students. We will also have our regular season ticket holder giveaway. 
  • The Marching 110 is scheduled to be at this match.  
  • We are partnering with the Joe Burrow Foundation for donations and have Joe Burrow t-shirts to throw into the crowd. 
  • We will have another chalk-talk with Coach Carlston in the Rohr Room at 6:30 pm Friday and team autographs after the match.

The Ohio volleyball team (13-12, 8-5 MAC) returns to Athens for the final time this season when Ohio hosts Eastern Michigan (3-22, 1-12 MAC) Nov. 3-4. The Bobcats begin the weekend on Friday, Nov. 3 against the Eagles at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Ohio concludes their home schedule on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. inside the Convo. The Match will be show on ESPN+. 

Saturday's match will serve as Senior Day for the Bobcats. 

Ohio is coming off a 1-1 week where they defeated Toledo on the road, before falling the Ball State on the road.  

SWIM AND DIVE

Ohio swim and dive returns to Athens on Saturday, Nov. 4 when they host MAC opponent Akron. The meet is set to being at 11 a.m. at the Ohio University Aquatic Center. At the moment, the meet is set to be streamed on YouTube, 

Ohio is coming off a 195-105 victory at Bowling Green this past weekend. 

WRESTLING

Ohio wrestling begins the 2023-24 season on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the 2023 Southeast Open hosted by Virginia Tech. The open is set to take place at Cregger Center in Salem, Va. with competition set to begin at 10 a.m. 

Fans will be able to stream the event with a subscription to FloWrestling.
