Oxford, OHIO – The Ohio volleyball team (12-11, 7-4 MAC) took down Miami (5-18, 1-10 MAC) 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17) on Saturday, sweeping the RedHawks in both matches of the 'Battle of the Bricks' series.
Multiple Bobcats contributed to Ohio's impressive performance tonight. Freshman
Kam Hunt (Sylvania, Ohio) recorded a team-high 11 kills and 13 points. Senior
Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) and junior
Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) were also top performers for the Bobcats. Hoerlein totaled eight kills, three blocks and 10 points while Clippard added nine kills and 9.5 points.
Once again, freshman
Emily Waddell (Zionsville, Ind.) was an important asset defensively as she made a team-high six blocks in the match.
The Bobcats came out strong with a dominating 25-17 win over Miami in the first set. Ohio outplayed the RedHawks across the court, earning 14 kills to Miami's nine and recording a .345 hitting percentage.
Moving onto the second set, Ohio never let up and continued to successfully outperform the RedHawks. In their 25-13 victory, the Bobcats recorded 13 kills, two aces and five blocks as a team.
Ohio secured its second 3-0 win of the weekend with a 25-17 win in the third set of the match.
The Bobcats will be back in action as they travel to Toledo for a conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. ET.
