BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Ohio men's golf team finished play today (Oct. 17) at the Elon Phoenix Invitational. The two-day, three-round event was hosted by Elon at Alamance Country Club.
The Bobcats finished in 14th, shooting a team score over the three rounds of 876 (+24). The hosts, Elon, took home the title shooting a 821 (-31).
Leading the way for the Bobcats was junior Sam Hogan (Burlington, Canada). Hogan started the tournament with a 74 on Monday morning and an impressive round of 67 in the afternoon. Entering the third and final round at one-under par, the Canadian shot a 75 to round out the tournament. Over the two days, Hogan shot a 216 (+3), finishing tied for 44th place.
A few shots behind Hogan, senior Jack Neville (Terrace Park, Ohio) placed a tie for 56th. Across the three rounds, Neville had scores of 72, 74, and 73, totaling to 219 (+6).
Sophomore Will Kates (Centennial, Colorado) followed just behind Neville, ending the tournament in a tie for 64th. His rounds of 73, 73, and 75, scoring a total of 221 (+8) for the event.
Senior Jared DeVille (Loveland, Ohio) finished tied for 73rd place with a 54-hole score of 223 (+10). DeVille had individual round scores of 70, 72, and 81.
Sophomore Carson Trafford (Dublin, Ohio) rounded out the lineup for the Bobcats this week. Trafford placed in a tie for 86th after a tournament score of 228 (+15).
Up Next:
The Bobcats will wrap up the fall season at the Bryan National Collegiate. The tournament, hosted by UNC-Greensboro, will start on Sunday, Oct. 29 and wrap up on Oct. 31. It will be held at Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C.
