EVANSTON, Illinois – The Ohio field hockey team (5-7) fell to Northwestern (13-1) Sunday (Oct. 15) by a score of 5-0.
Overall, the Bobcats recorded six total shots, with two coming on target. The Bobcats received six penalty corners and recorded eight total saves.
Individually, the Bobcats were lead by sophomores
Sasha Dikotla (Johannesburg, South Africa) and
Mary Huffman (Ypsilanti, Mich.) with two shots each. Both Dikotla and Huffman both registered a shot on target as well.
Senior goalkeeper
Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) played the full 60 minutes, racking up eight saves on 13 shots faced.
The Bobcats' defense was the focal point early, facing early shots from the Wildcats. But, in the 9
th minute. Northwestern was able to gain a one-goal lead, which remained until the end of the first. The score remained 1-0 until the 19
th minute, when Northwestern were able to expand the lead to two. Ohio pressured on offense, gaining their first penalty corner in the 22
nd minute, but were unable to find net before half. Lotze made four shots in the first half, but the Bobcats were outshot 10-1.
The Bobcats' defense remained critical in the third quarter, but were unable to keep the Wildcats out of the net – Northwestern scored in the 33
rd and 43
rd minute to take the lead to four. The second-ranked team in the country carried the four-goal lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth remained much like the third, as the Wildcats were able to make the lead five two minutes into the fourth, which would end the final score. Although, the Bobcats were able to apply pressure late, having four shots in the last four minutes. But, they were never able to find net in a 5-0 defeat to the #2 Wildcats.

The Bobcats return home for Senior night against Bellarmine Friday (Oct. 30). The team will be celebrating its seniors at Pruitt Field in the last home game of the year. First touch is set for 3 p.m. ET and can be streamed via ESPN+.
The Bobcats ride a four-game win streak and are 4-0 all-time against Bellarmine - the Bobcats have outscored the Knights 16-5 all-time in their four meetings, and will look to remain perfect this Friday.
