ATHENS, Ohio -- It's finally football game week in Athens! Not only does Ohio football kickoff this week, Ohio men's and women's cross country are in action, with volleyball, soccer and field hockey looking to build on last weekend's momentum. 

FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (0-0) opens the 2022 season in Athens when the Bobcats take on Florida Atlantic (1-0). Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Peden Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN+.

Saturday will serve as Band Day nnd following the game will be postgame fireworks. 

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Sept. 2  / Ohio XC Invitational / Athens, Ohio / Women's 5k: 11 a.m./ Men's 5k: 11:45 a.m.  

The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams open a bust weekend in Athens. Both teams open the 2022 season with the Ohio Cross Country Invitational on Friday Sept. 2 in Athens. The women's squad will start with a 5k at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 5k at 11:45 a.m. ET. In total, six teams will be participating in the event, with Toledo, Akron, Kent State, Bowling Green and Fairmont State joining the Bobcats on the course. 

MEN'S GOLF

The Ohio men's golf team opens the 2022-23 season this weekend when they head to Muncie, Ind. for the 2022 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational. The two-day event will take place in Muncie, Ind. at the Delaware Country Club. The 54-hole tournament will start Friday, Sept. 2 with 36 holes, before concluding Saturday, Sept. 3 with 18 holes. The Ohio volleyball squad is back in action for their second weekend of 2022 when they head to New Orleans for the 2022 Tulane Invitational, Sept 2-3. Ohio opens the weekend at 11 a.m. on Firday, Sept. 2 against Kansas City. The Bobcats are back in action at 5:30 p.m. that evening to take on Howard. The Bobcats conclude the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 4 against host Tulane at 2 p.m. All three matches will take place at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

After a thrilling 3-1 victory over Cal in their season opener on Sunday, Ohio field hockey is back in action for two matches this weekend. Ohio starts off on Friday, Sept. 2 when they head to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on Central Michigan in a nonconference matchup. First touch is set for 3 p.m. at Phyllis Ocker Field. 

Ohio returns to Athens on Sunday, Sept. 4 when they play host to Davidson. First touch is set fro Noon ET at Pruitt Field. Sunday will serve as Morgan's Message and the first 100 fans will get a free green wrist band, while 10 students in attendance will be selected to win an Adidas backpack.

After a dominating victory at Marshall Sunday night, the Ohio soccer squad finally returns to Athens after two weeks for its home opener. Ohio will host VMI on Sunday, Sept. 4. First touch is set for 1 p.m. at Chessa Field..
