MUNCIE, Ind.— The fourth-seeded Ohio baseball team (29-22, 21-15 MAC) opens the 2022 Mid-American Conference tournament on Wednesday, May 25 when it takes on first-seeded Ball State (38-17, 32-7 MAC). First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at the Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark in Muncie, Ind.
All games will be streamed on ESPN+, while
Russ Eisenstein will have the audio call on Power 105 and the Ohio Player.Â
For the first time in two years, the MAC tournament returns, this time as a four-team, double elimination format from May 25-28. Since Ball State won the regular season, the Cardinals are hosting. This year's field includes also includes the Bobcats, Central Michigan and Toledo.Â
The Bobcats enter the tournament 29-22 overall; their 21-15 conference record secured the fourth-seed spot. Three Bobcats earned All-MAC honors: fifth year
Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) earned First Team All-MAC honors, senior
Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) made Second Team All-MAC and fifth year
Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) earned a spot on the All-MAC Defensive Team.Â
If Ohio wins, they will play the winner of the No. 2 Central Michigan and No. 3 Toledo game on Thursday, May 26 at 4 p.m. If the Bobcats fall, they will return for the loser's bracket game set for Thursday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m.Â
