ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio baseball team (12-12, 6-7 MAC) defeated Toledo (13-15, 7-9) with a walk-off home run in the 10th inning from senior Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.).

Individually, graduate student Cael Baker (Gahanna, Ohio) went 2-for-3 while junior Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) went 2-for-4 with one run scored. On the mound, fifth year Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) pitched seven innings with nine strikeouts. Senior Braxton Kelly (Ulysses, Ky.) closed the game, facing three batters and striking out two.

Two RBI singles drove in three runs for Toledo in the top of the first. In the bottom of the inning, Minzey put the Bobcats on the board with an RBI double, leaving Ohio trailing 3-1. After giving up three runs in the first inning, Kutt IV pitched six-straight innings of shutout baseball.

"For him to settle down and get zeroes for six innings was great to see," head coach Craig Moore said.

Kutt IV retired three consecutive batters in the seventh, the Bobcats struck with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Redshirt freshman Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tied the game with a two-RBI double to left center field. The next at-bat, an RBI single from fifth year Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) gave the Bobcats a 4-3 lead. Before the end of the inning, Peterson scored Ohio's fifth run off a wild pitch.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, a two-run Toledo home run tied the game. The Bobcats kept fighting as the game went into extra innings and after Kelly stuck out a batter with the bases loaded, Minzey struck again as he blasted a solo walk off home run to center field.

"When I rounded first, I saw Coach Moore, he was more hyped than anybody else on the field," Minzey said. "It was really cool seeing his reaction and when I looked at home it was all my guys there and ready to get on me. It was an awesome feeling."
