MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.-- The Ohio baseball team (11-12, 5-7 MAC) fell in both games to Central Michigan (14-10, 9-1 MAC) in the doubleheader on Sunday (April 3) at Theunissen Stadium. The Bobcats lost 5-2 in the first seven-inning game and 12-6 in the second game, which was a full nine innings.
GAME ONE
The Bobcats fell behind early in the first inning as a single by Central Michigan scored the first run of the day in the. They answered back in the third inning, as junior
Alex Finney (Oxford, Mich.) put the Bobcats on the board with a single up the middle to score redshirt freshman
Nick Dolan (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Senior
Colin Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) brought in Finney with another single to give Ohio the lead by one run. The Chippewas struck again in the fourth inning as a bunt single scored one run. The next batter hit a sacrifice fly to score a runner from third, and Central Michigan added a two-run homerun to extend its lead to three runs.
Ohio was led offensively Finney and Dolan, who each had one hit, and Kasperbauer, who went 2-3 with one RBI. Pitching wise, redshirt sophomore starter
Jacob Tate (Louisville, Tenn.) pitched four innings with nine hits and five earned runs. Freshman
Tyler Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) came in relief for Tate and threw two innings with just one hit and no walks.
GAME TWO
Ohio fell behind early again in the second game as senior
Brenden Roder (Sioux City, Iowa), who usually comes out of the bullpen, gave up four runs in the first inning. The Chippewas added another run in the second inning before the Bobcats battled back with four runs in the third. Ohio got on the board as redshirt senior
Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.) hit his fifth double of the year to clear the bases and score three runs. Senior
Mason Minzey (Grand Blanc, Mich.) brought Harbert in with a sacrifice fly to draw the Bobcats within a run at the end if the third inning.
Unfortunately, the Chippewas answered back in the bottom of the third with three more runs. Central Michigan scored two more runs in each the sixth and the eighth innings to push its lead to eight runs, but Ohio didn't stop fighting. Kasperbauer continued his stellar afternoon with a two-run homerun in the ninth inning to score senior
Will Sturek (Minnetonka, Minn.), as the Bobcats dropped the second game, 12-6.

Ohio will return home this week for a game against Morehead State on Tuesday (April 5) at 5 p.m.
