ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio track and field team returned to Athens for the annual Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday (April 16) at Goldsberry Track.
In the 1500m, sophomore
Kenna Loveless (Tallmadge, Ohio) finished in second place with a time of 4:47.81, while junior
Carina Weaver (Lexington, Ohio) placed fifth with a time of 4:52.03.
In the 100m hurdles, redshirt junior
Alaya Grose (Mansfield, Ohio) came in third with an overall time of 15.93. Meanwhile, redshirt junior
Taniah Stephens (Erie, Pa.) placed fifth in the 400-meter event, finishing the race in 57.27. Stephens returned to action in the 200m, placing second with a time of 25.07.
The 100m saw fifth year
Olivia Brewer (Mount Gilead, Ohio) come in first place with a time of 12.82, while senior
Halie Sciury (East Sparta, Ohio) finished seventh with a time of 13.82. In the 3000m, freshman
Kelsi Harris (Liberty Township, Ohio) finished fourth, crossing the finish line in 10:08.40, while graduate student
Mary Kate McElroy (Whipple, Ohio) finished in seventh with a time of 10;40.02.
In the field events, graduate student
Taylor Strnad (Brook Park, Ohio) won the high jump at 1.65m.
Freshman
Michaela Frey (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) won the pole vault at 3.20m, while junior
Kendall Kraft (Wadsworth, Ohio) finished third at 3.05.
In the long jump, Sciury finished fifth with a jump of 4.98m, while sophomore
Emily McKenzie (Dillsburg, Pa.) finished seventh with a jump of 4.67. McKenzie also placed fourth in the triple jump, with a distance of 10.40m.
In discus, senior
Rachel Simpson (Port Clinton, Ohio) placed first with a throw of 45.68, while senior
Autumn Mohan (Chillicothe, Ohio) finished fourth (42.97) and sophomore
Jordan Baith (Seville, Ohio) placed fifth (40.85). Mohan was back in action for the shot put, finishing third with a throw of 13.41m and in the hammer throw, placing seventh with a throw of 46.60m.
The Bobcats are back in action April 22-23 at the Jesse Owens Invitational
