BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Ohio baseball team (10-8, 4-3 MAC) dropped their first game of the weekend against Bowling Green (3-15, 1-8 MAC) 14-2 in seven innings.
Individually, redshirt seniors
Michael Richardson (Cambridge, Md.) and
Spencer Harbert (Middletown, Del.) both went 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece. On the mound, fifth year
Edward Kutt IV (Westlake, Calif.) got the start, striking out five in 3.2 innings. Freshmen
Zach Weber (Lebanon, Ohio) and
Tyler Peck (Oak Creek, Wis.) pitched the remainder of the game.
Harbert kicked off the first inning with a solo home run, but Bowling Green tied the game in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single. After a scoreless second, the Falcons knocked in two more runs with a double and single, extending their lead to 3-1.
Bowling Green took an 11-1 lead in the fourth, scoring eight runs off four singles, one triple and a ground out. The Falcons extended their lead the next inning, scoring twice off RBI doubles, followed by fielder's choice in the sixth to put the score at 14-1.
Richardson singled to center field in the seventh, driving in graduate student
Cael Baker (Gahanna, Ohio), leaving Ohio trailing 14-2.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow (March 26) for a doubleheader against Bowling Green. Game one will be seven innings long and is set to start at 12:05 p.m. Game two will start approximately 40 minutes after the first game and will be nine innings long.
