Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore
Jordan Slivka (Indianapolis, Ind.) are representing the Ohio wrestling team at the 2022 NCAA Wrestling Championships (March 17-19). No. 27 Perrine will take on No. 6 Dustin Plott (Oklahoma State) in the first round at 174 pounds while No. 32 Slivka is matched up against No. 33 Derek Holschlag (UNI).
The first round starts at noon on Thursday; wrestling will resume at 7 p.m. Quarterfinals start at 11 a.m. on Friday and the semifinals are set for 8 p.m. that night. Third, fifth and seventh-place matches, will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday; the championship round will start a 6 p.m. that night.
Perrine finished the regular season 21-2 overall and 7-1 against MAC opponents, highlighted by one fall and four major decisions. At the MAC Championships, he was the sole Bobcat to advance to the championship match. He initially placed second, losing by a 7-5 decision to Mason Kauffman (Northern Illinois). Perrine finished third after Jay Nivison (Buffalo) challenged Perrine, claiming True Second and one of the guaranteed spots at the NCAA Championships with a 3-2 decision.
Slivka ended the regular season with a 22-5 overall record and 6-2 against MAC competition. He registered five falls, two technical falls and two major decisions. At the MAC tournament, he won the 157-pound consolation semifinal with a 6-0 decision, advancing to the third-place match against Michael Petite (Buffalo). In a 4-3 decision, Slivka lost, placing fourth in the 157-pound bracket.
