2022 Ohio Football Schedule | MAC Release
ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio football team has released its 2022 regular season schedule today in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference office.
The Bobcats' 12-game slate features six home games at Peden Stadium — including four Saturday dates. Homecoming is set for Saturday, October 8, when Ohio plays host to Akron.
2022 OHIO FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Saturday, Sept. 3: vs. Florida Atlantic (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: This is the Bobcats' first matchup against FAU. The Owls finished the 2021 season 5-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Saturday, September 10: at Penn State (Beaver Stadium; University Park, Pa.)
Notable: The Bobcats and Penn State are set to meet for the seventh time since 1967. In the six times Ohio and Penn State have faced off, the Bobcats won once, kicking off the 2012 season with the 24-14 victory.
Saturday, September 17: at Iowa State (Jack Trice Stadium; Ames, Iowa)
Notable: The Bobcats' last matchup against Iowa State was on Sept. 6, 2003. The Bobcats dropped the contest, 48-20. Ohio and Iowa have faced off seven times times since 1962.
Saturday, September 24: vs. Fordham (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: This is the Bobcats' first matchup against Fordham. The Rams finished the 2021 season 6-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Saturday, October 1: at Kent State (Dix Stadium; Kent, Ohio)
Notable: Against Kent State, the Bobcats are 44-27-2. Their last matchup was on Oct. 23, 2021, where Ohio lost 34-27.
Saturday, October 8: vs. Akron (Peden Stadium, Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Overall, the Bobcats are 23-14-1 against Akron. Their last meetup was at Akron on Oct. 2, 2021, where the Bobcats won 34-17, marking their first conference game and win of the 2021 season.
Saturday, October 15: at Western Michigan (Waldo Stadium; Kalamazoo, Mich.)
Notable: Ohio's record against Western Michigan is 30-33-1. When the two teams last faced off on Nov. 12, 2019, the game went into overtime. The Bobcats ultimately lost, 37-34.
Saturday, October 22: vs. Northern Illinois (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Against Northern Illinois, the Bobcats are 10-13. When the teams last played each other on Oct. 12, 2019, Ohio lost, 39-36.
Tuesday, November 1: vs. Buffalo (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Overall, the Bobcats are 16-11 against Buffalo. They last faced off on Oct. 16, 2021; Buffalo pulled ahead in the fourth quarter, defeating Ohio 27-26.
Tuesday, November 8: at Miami (Yager Stadium; Oxford, Ohio)
Notable: The Bobcats have faced Miami 97 times since 1908. Overall, Ohio is 41-54-2 against the Redhawks. The last Battle of the Bricks was on Nov. 2, 2021; after falling behind 14-0 in the first half, the Bobcats surged ahead, winning 35-33.
Tuesday, November 15: at Ball State (Scheumann Stadium; Muncie, Ind.)
Notable: Since their first game in 1975, Ohio and Ball State have played each other 26 times with an 11-15 record. The last time they met, Oct. 26, 2019, Ohio won 34-21.
Tuesday, Nov. 22: vs. Bowling Green (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Overall, the Bobcats are 30-41-2 against Bowling Green. Ohio closed the 2021 season at Bowling Green on Nov. 26, falling 21-10.
Television platforms, along with game times, will be announced at a later date.
The Bobcats finished the 2021 season 3-9 overall. They registered three wins against MAC opponents, highlighted by their Battle of the Bricks victory at Peden against Miami (35-33) on Nov. 2. On the road, they defeated Akron (34-17) on Oct. 2 and Eastern Michigan (34-26) on Nov. 9. Tim Albin is set to return for his second season at Ohio's head coach in 2022.
