Ohio Women's Basketball is Set to Play IUPUI Sunday

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Ohio Women's Basketball team (0-3, 0-0 MAC) will play on the road against IUPUI (2-2, 0-0 HL). The matchup is set for 2 p.m. at The Jungle and will be available to stream on ESPN+. The Bobcats are looking to get their first non-conference win of the 2022-23 season and add to their all-time series score against the IUPUI Jaguars. 

THE LAST MATCHUP
December of 2019, was the most recent matchup between the Bobcats and Jaguars. Ohio took the victory 70-64 at home in The Convocation Center. Ohio was 23-of-57 (40.4%) from the field, 8-of-21 (38.1%) from the three-point line, and 16-of-21 from the free throw line. Ultimately, the Bobcats held IUPUI to 26-of-65 shooting (40%) and 6-of-26 (23.1%) from behind the three-point line. IUPUI got to the line just seven times during the contest, proving the strength of Ohio's defense. The Jags outrebounded Ohio, 43-35, but it was the Bobcats who forced 16 turnovers from IUPUI, giving Ohio 14 points. The Bobcats also collected 15 points from fast breaks and 11 steals to secure the 2019 win. 

ALL-TIME SERIES
It is recorded that the Ohio Bobcats have faced IUPUI 5 times in their history; in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2001. The series count is Ohio 3, IUPUI 2. The Bobcats won in 2019 (70-64), 2018 (73-66), and in 2016 (71-65); falling to the Jaguars in 2017 (52-76), and 2001 (75-84). 

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
IUPUI has now played 4 games this season going 2 and 2. They lost their first two matchups against UIC (50-52) and 7th ranked Louisville (62-84), but are now on a 2 game winning streak, defeating Butler (67-61) and Southern Illinois (80-76). In their most recent game against Southern Illinois, the IUPUI Jaguars shot 25 for 52 (48.1%) from the floor and 50% from behind the arc going 13 for 26. The Jags defense also held strong, recording 30 rebounds, ten turnovers, and five steals. 

LEADING JAGUARS
Overall, the Jaguar's offense this season has been led by senior Jazmyn Turner, who has totaled 46 points, followed by Natalie Andersen with 44 points, and Ali Berg with 39 points. On defense, IUPUI is led in steals by Rachel Kent with 9, and Jazmyn Turner has accumulated 18 defensive rebounds. 

FELDER HIT CAREER HIGH IN SCORING
In the Bobcat's most recent contest against the Ohio State Buckeyes, Senior guard, Yaya Felder surpassed her career high in singular game points. Felder hit 20 points in February of 2022 against Eastern Michigan and then reached the 20 point mark twice more in March against Kent State (3/05/22) and South Dakota State (3/17/22).  Last Thursday (11/17/22), Felder scored one more to hit 21 points and set her new career high against racked Ohio State. 

OHIO'S MOST RECENT MATCHUP
The Ohio Bobcats faced the 13th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes from the Big Ten Conference. Ohio held strong, trailing by 10 at the end of the first quarter and leading the contest in rebounds with 16. Ohio was defeated by the Buckeyes, falling 62-90. The Bobcats were led on offense by Yaya Felder, who had 21 points, while Caitlyn Kroll led the team on the boards with 9 total rebounds.

LEADING OHIO
The Bobcats have been led by many different individuals thus far in the 2022-23 season. Yaya Felder has accumulated 39 points in the last three games, followed by Caitlyn Kroll with 29, Ella Pope with 25, and Jaya McClure with 24. Kate Dennis leads in 3 pointers with 5 made and 16 attempts (.313). On defense Caitlyn Kroll holds 18 defensive rebounds, followed by Ella Pope and Abby Garnett with 14 each. Kroll also leads in steals totaling 6.
