Ohio Cross Country Finishes Competition at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Ohio men's and women's cross country programs wrapped up competition at the 2022 Great Lakes Regional Friday morning (Nov. 11) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's team placed 10th overall, while the men's squad finished 17th overall.Â

The women's top-10 finish is the best finish for Ohio at the Great Lakes Regional since 2006.Â

Ohio was led by freshman Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) led the Bobcats in the 6k with a time of 21:05.6, placing her 42nd overall. A few spots behind Mason was sophomore Theresa Hagey (Akron, Ohio), who placed 45th with a time of 21:08.1. MAC Freshman of the Year Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio) finished just behind Hagey with a finishing time of 21:24.6, while senior Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio) finished in 22:09.4.

In the men's 10k, junior Wendesen King (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) led the Bobcats with a time of 31:12.2, placing 52nd overall. Senior Michael Tonkovich (Athens, Ohio) finished next for Ohio, crossing the finish line in 31:48.5, while graduate student Ethan Frisone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) finished in 32:03.6.
