Ohio Wrestling Defeats Northern Illinois

ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio wrestling team returned to action tonight (Jan. 15), defeating MAC opponent Northern Illinois 27-10.

Redshirt sophomore Oscar Sanchez (Genoa, Ohio) got the ball rolling at 125 pounds, defeating NIU with a 6-3 decision. Redshirt junior Giovanni DiSabato (Hilliard, Ohio) secured the Bobcat's second win of the night with a 14-7 decision at 133 pounds.

Graduate student Mario Guillen (Perrysburg, Ohio) went to work at 141 pounds, defeating his opponent by a 4-3 decision. At 149 pounds, redshirt senior Alec Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) won a tight bout, securing his 2-1 decision victory with a takedown in the last 10 seconds of the match. Redshirt sophomore Jordan Slivka (Indianapolis, Ind.) won by medical default at 157 pounds.

At 165 pounds, redshirt sophomore Sean O'Dwyer (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) won with a 6-3 decision while freshman Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) won by forfeit at 184 pounds.

The Bobcats will return to the Convocation Center on Saturday, January 22 at 11 a.m. to face off against the United States Naval Academy's wrestling team at 11 a.m.
