Ohio head coach Tim Albin:Â
On the opponent:Â
It was not the outcome we wanted. You have got to give credit to Coach Smith who did a great job out executing us. He could tell their plan from the start, snap the ball with one second to go try to control the game. I saw the tape, felt like they could do some things on the running game from last week, and pointing out the playing with their backup quarterback. He did a nice job calling the game for them and played to his strengths, and we could not get enough stops defensively against them. I heard Kai there, you know the turnovers. We haven't even gotten they're not produced any yet. Yet, so far, through two games. So, moving forward, we're going to have 12 hours, we're going to have to make the corrections and rely on the elders of the civil team and coaching staff to get these things addressed to get ready to play a really good football team, Louisiana Lafayette.Â
On game execution:Â
For all three phases, and we have to execute better, go faster on offense, move the ball a little bit. We've got to make strides in that, we were faced with adversity. As I said earlier in the first half, and I challenged them at halftime, take a deep breath here, let's loosen those shoulders up and let's get a stop, we're going to have the winner in the fourth quarter. We had some things happen that haven't happened here, and we have got to get it corrected in a hurry because we will, again, we're going to be challenged and we have three on the road.
On changing the longsnapper:Â
I can assure you that we're going to go about our business, just like we have in my time here. We have some issues with personnel things that we're going to have to get set up.  We had to shuffle some guys since the long snapper, Kurt is out and even with Hagen still out. We've got some guys we've had some guys that have snapped but they haven't been under the gun.
On the game approach:Â
We approach every game to win, and I can assure you, we did not look approach a game with a different mindset because it's an FCS opponent.  We're going to take steps moving forward to fix the things that we can fix and get these guys mentally ready to go.Â
On the defensive penalties throughout the game:Â
I'm disappointed. The guys were just in the moment. If they tightened up a little bit, you know, and began to trust her technique and know what I know more than more than the past interferences he just, I think he just panicked. Â
On DeMonte Tuggle's injury:Â
I will go talk to John Bowen and Matthias [Reiber], after this. I saw Tuggs when I walked in the locker room and he said, "I'll be okay, I'll be okay." I'll get the full report and have that for you on Monday.Â
On the offenses' maturity:Â
I have a lot of confidence in Kurtis, the offense, and a lot of a lot of receivers today. Chase Coakley, he's been through s an injury and so much more.  He battled and had some two or three huge catches into the sun. Â
On the team's leadership and accountability:Â
The team is a unit, and they know the standard. We don't want to turn the ball over and we want to get turnover, but we have to stop them right. We've got to improve on these things, as we're facing a UL football team that can run the ball. Offensively we must execute at a high level. Â
On choosing to go for the 2-point conversion:Â
That choice took about 10 seconds, we had already decided during the drive that we were going to go for it. Â
On the slow start to the season:
I can't speak for the people outside; all I can do is speak to this football team and the staff. We are going to forge ahead.  I certainly believe that we can get things done, get some things done, come conference time and in these next two games.
Ohio defensive tackle Kai Caesar:
On how they process a loss like this:Â
It's tough right now but we need to be better, individually and as a team. That's just that, we just need to be better.
On what they are seeing on defense right now:Â
Defense is doing good but you know, we just need to find ourselves still and you know get turnovers, like enough to feel as great, but we still need some turn overs.Â
On what happened with the six defensive penalties in the second half:
That's just losing focus, you know, and that's something that we need to work on every day, just staying focused on our individual job, and executing.
Â
On how much they talked about the penalties that led to the first downs:
We just need to be more disciplined, you know, as a defense. We had penalties in the back, we have penalties in the front. Those are things that we do work on in practice, and we just need to stay true to our technique in our game.
On how they are going to help the younger guys on the time with this loss:Â
My grandma would say looking at the sun, you never see the shadows. As leaders we need to keep our heads high, and those younger guys will see that. They will understand what we're wanting, and they do understand what we want to accomplish with this team. So, the biggest thing is just leading even when it hurts. As I tell myself all the time, it's easy to lead when stuff is going good, but you got to know how to lead when it hurts. So, we'll do it. We'll get it done.
On if there's one thing they could automatically improve on defense:
Improvement. We need some turnovers; we need to be better at everything we do. Execute every single play. We can't take a play off, no matter what, no matter how good we feel we just got to execute.
Ohio wide receiver Cam Odom
Â
On how they handle a loss that's never happened before:
Learn from our mistakes is the biggest thing. Go back and watch film, as we always do. Forgot what we did right and learn from what we did wrong. And with the short turn around we got to learn tonight and forget about it tonight, because the new week starts tomorrow. We got to prepare for it.
Â
On if the loss tainted his 1,000 receiving yard achievement:Â
I mean it would have been more exciting if we did win but at the end of the day getting [1,000]Â in college is always a blessing. I definitely appreciate everything I've done here and the stuff that I'm going to continue to do but at the same time, the team is more important than just my individual stats. We didn't win today and that's what I'm harping on right now. But, you know, like I said the new week starts tomorrow. Hopefully, you know, we get the win this week.
Â
On what the postgame locker room was like:Â
It's frustrating and like both Kai and I just said, we got to learn from it and forget about it. One thing I always say is we have to learn how to turn the page when stuff goes good, and when stuff goes wrong. Whether that's on the field or off the field, whether we have a good play, you got to turn the page and go back and make sure you're ready for the next play. The same goes with a win or loss. So, that's how we're gonna turn the page and get ready for the next day.
Â
On how they are preparing for a quick turnaround:Â
First thing first, take care of our bodies tonight and that's the biggest thing. kind of wind your mind down. And, you know, figure out what you need to get done tomorrow and treatment. And like coaches. The coaches have everything prepared for us and we follow their lead. Listen to what we have to do and go from there.
On why the offense has looked disjointed:Â
We got to take advantage of the opportunities given. This is really the small things, execution. We know as players stuff happens in the game. Stuff happens all the time. We got to learn how to face adversity. And we've done that, both games. You know, we got to keep the energy even when stuff is going good, even when it's going bad. Learn from our mistakes and execute.
Duquesne head coach Jerry Schmitt
On if he ever imagined playing an FBS school and knocking them off in his tenure as head coachÂ
No, I didn't. We had this opportunity to come in today and the kids played their butts off and did a great job to win this game. It is an outstanding feeling, but I never imagined that's where we would be.
Â
On assessing Darius Perrantes in his first career start?Â
Obviously he played really well, well enough to win the game but the kids came out and embraced him right away. In Tuesday's practice they embraced him as our leader on offense and he took it and did a great job. He had to learn a bunch, real fast, which he did, and I just like how he keeps his head in the game.
Â
On time of possession being part of the game plan coming into this game?Â
It was part of our plan in reducing the number the of series that they could have to keep the game close. And, you know obviously once we got up, we tried to reduce the number of possessions they would have especially at the end of the game.
Â
Â
Duquesne QB Darius Perrantes
On his initial thoughts after today's win against an FBS team in your first career start
Coming into this game, I knew we could win. We just had to believe in ourselves and believe in our coaching, to do everything we've been doing all week. I knew we were going to get it done.
Â
On time of possession being part of the game plan coming into this game
Yes it was. As soon as we got up to the line, we starting pounding the ball.  The trenches couldn't hold so we just kept running the ball and running the clock down to five seconds to use the clock.
Â
On the guys around him who also made big plays today?
I wouldn't be here without them. It's my job to give them the ball, and they did their job to catch it and run with it. They did exactly what they're supposed to do.
Â
On how a win like this today against an opponent like Ohio propels the team moving forward?
It is definitely going to give us some momentum, but we have to come into every game like we are going to win and that's what we are going to do.
