Ohio Field Hockey Falls to New Hampshire

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ohio field hockey team (0-2) wrapped up its first weekend of play on Saturday (Aug. 28), falling to New Hampshire, (2-0) 1-0, at Trager Stadium on the campus of Louisville.Â

After a scoreless first half from both teams, the lone goal of the game came from New Hampshire  in the 44th minute when Bloem Van Den Brekel scored to break the deadlock going into the fourth quarter.Â

As a team, Ohio outshot New Hampshire, 8-7, while recording five shots on goal to UNH's four. The Bobcats also attempted four corners.Â
Â
Individually, graduate student Leah Warren (Hamilton, New Zealand) led Ohio with two shots, with one on goal. Graduate students Jillian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio) and Kaelyn Long (Hanover, Pa.) and senior Ashley Willbur (Louisville, Ky.) all recorded one shot and one shot on goal.Â

In goal, senior Nele Graner (Bonn, Germany) got the start, putting together 30 shutout minutes, while making one save on two shots faced. Sophomore Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) entered the match in the second half, playing 30 minutes where she allowed one goal and made two saves while facing five shots.Â

The Bobcats return home next weekend when they host Michigan State and Northeastern in a round robin tournament Sept. 3-5. Michigan State and Northeastern face off on Friday, Sept. 3, while Ohio and Northeastern battle it out on Saturday, Sept. 4. Ohio closes out the weekend when they face Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 5. All matches are set up begin at 1 p.m. at Pruitt Field.Â
