Full Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio --
The Ohio volleyball program released its 2021 schedule today (July 21), as announced by first-year head coach Geoff Carlston

Ohio's schedule will be back to normal this season, as they play a more traditional schedule that includes non-conference games, following last season's shortened campaign that was played earlier in 2021 due to COVID-19. The non-conference slate will see the Bobcats play four teams that qualified for the previous NCAA tournament.

The entire non-conference schedule will be played away from Athens, Ohio, consisting of 11 matches spread across four different events. The opening weekend will be spent in Columbus, Ohio as the Bobcats participate in the Sports Imports Classic at Nationwide Arena. Ohio will play Washington on Aug. 27 and Northern Kentucky on Aug. 28 during that event.

Next up will be the Red & White Invitational, where Ohio will take on Illinois State on Sept. 3, and then play twice on Sept. 4, once against Marquette and once against University of Illinois-Chicago.

The Bobcats will then travel to Manhattan, Kan. to participate in the K-State Invitational, starting with two contests on Sept. 9. First up will be a match against Loyola-Chicago at 10 a.m. and then a matchup against the host Wildcats at 7 p.m. The following day, Sept. 10, will wrap up the event with a match against Fresno State scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

The final event of the non-conference schedule will be the WKU Invitational, with the Bobcats beginning play against Western Kentucky on Sept. 17. Sept. 18 will bring two matches for the Bobcats, first against Lipscomb and then finishing with Austin Peay.

The Bobcats will then turn their attention to conference competition, where the schedule has them playing a total of 18 MAC matches, nine at the Convocation Center and nine on the road. Ohio will begin their MAC matches at home, taking on Toledo on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.

The month of October brings a schedule that is balanced between home and away matches, with Ohio playing five at home and six away from Athens. In the first half of the month, the Bobcats will travel to take on Ball State (Sept. 30 and Oct. 1), return home to play Eastern Michigan (Oct. 8) and Central Michigan (Oct. 9), and then travel to Buffalo (Oct. 15 and 16).

Ohio will then play three-straight at home against Kent State (Oct. 20) and Akron (Oct. 22 and 23), before wrapping up October on the road against Western Michigan (Oct. 29) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 30).

A trip to Oxford, Ohio will be next up on the schedule for the Bobcats, as they take on Miami on Nov. 5 and 6. The final home games of the regular season will be played on Nov. 12 and 13 when the Bobcats take on Bowling Green. The final regular season game will be on Nov. 17 as the Bobcats take on Kent State.

Ohio is coming off a 2020-21 campaign that was played entirely in 2021 due to COVID-19. The Bobcats played a schedule consisting solely of MAC opponents and finished 12-8, ending their season with a 3-1 defeat against Western Michigan in the first round of the MAC tournament.
