
MAC Announces 2021 Football Media Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND –  The 2021 Ohio football team has been selected to finish second in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the 2021 MAC Football Media Preseason Poll, the league announced on Tuesday (July 20). The poll was determined by 22 of the league's media members.

In the East Division, Kent State was selected first with 112 total points. Following the Flashes, the Bobcats finished second with 96 points, while Miami finished third with 94 points. Buffalo came in fourth with 93 points, followed by Akron and Bowling Green.Â

In the West Division, Ball State was selected first in the Division with a league-best 114 total points. Toledo finished second with 104 points, while Western Michigan was third with 103 points. Central Michigan ranked fourth with 68 points, followed by Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois.

Ball State was selected to win the MAC Championship with 7 votes, followed by Toledo (5), Kent State (4), Western Michigan (3), Buffalo (2) and Miami (1).

The Bobcats will enter the 2021 season with first-year head coach Tim Albin, Ohio is coming off of a 2020 season that was shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic. Ohio finished the year 2-1, recording a pair of home wins over Mid-American Conference East Division rivals Akron (24-10) and Bowling Green (52-10) at Peden Stadium.
