ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio women's soccer team has released their schedule for the 2021 season, ninth-year head coach Aaron Rodgers announced today (July 13). The Bobcats will return to a normal schedule this season after playing a modified schedule in the spring due to COVID-19. Ohio will play 10 regular season games within the friendly confines of Chessa Field, including six Mid-American Conference matchups.

The Bobcats' eight-game non-conference slate includes contests against teams from seven different athletic conferences. Ohio will play a pre-season exhibition game against Xavier at 4 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Chessa Field, before kicking off the regular season on the road against VMI at 4 p.m. on Aug. 19. The regular season home opener will be at 4 p.m. on Aug. 26 against Marshall, followed by another home contest against James Madison at 4 p.m. on Aug. 29 to wrap up the first month of play.

September will see Ohio play two non-conference games at home (Sept. 2 vs. Navy, Sep. 19 vs. Northern Kentucky), both at 4 p.m. The Bobcats will be on the road for the remainder of their non-conference contests with three games being played throughout the month. The games on Sept. 5 at Eastern Kentucky and on Sept. 12 at Cleveland State will start at 1 p.m., with Ohio's final non-conference game at Western Carolina scheduled to start at 3 p.m. on Sept. 19.

For conference competition, the MAC is returning to their pre-COVID scheduling format of a single standings table, after playing a shortened schedule within the respective MAC divisions this previous spring. The Bobcats will play each opponent once for a total of 11 conference games, six at home and five on the road.

Ohio will open up conference play at home against Buffalo on Sept. 23 at 4 p.m.. Ohio will then go on the road for a 1 p.m. matchup against Akron on Sept. 26, and will finish up the month's slate of games against defending MAC champions Bowling Green at 7 p.m. on Sept. 30.

The Bobcats will play the rest of the regular season during the month of October, with five matches at home and three on the road. Chessa Field will host the first two games of the month, as Ohio takes on Toledo at 1 p.m. on Oct. 1 and Western Michigan at 4 p.m. on Oct. 7.

Back-to-back road games are next on the docket, as Ohio travels to Northern Illinois for a 3 p.m. kick on Oct. 10 and then heads to Ball State on Oct. 14 for a 4 p.m. match.

Ohio then plays three of their last four games at home to finish the regular season. The final push will start with home games versus Miami at 1 p.m. on Oct. 17 and versus Eastern Michigan at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21. The Bobcats' final road game will be a 1 p.m. kickoff on Oct. 24 at Central Michigan, before they return to Athens for the regular season finale against Kent State at 4 p.m. on Oct. 28.

The MAC Tournament will start on Oct. 31 and conclude on Nov. 7.

The Bobcats are coming off a shortened season that saw Ohio finish with a record of 3-7. That team had four players selected to All-MAC teams, with Morgan Collica earning First Team All-MAC honors while three freshman -- Isabella Ginocchi, Shae Robertson, and Carsyn Prigge -- were chosen to the All-MAC Freshman team.
