CLEVELAND, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio softball team earned Mid-American Conference Postseason Honors, the league announced today (May 20). Senior shortstop Katie Yun (North Canton, Ohio) was named First Team All-MAC, graduate student second baseman Mikenzie Vaughn (Kennesaw, Ga.) and senior centerfielder Allie Englant (Long Beach, Calif.) were named Second Team All-MAC, while junior first baseman Caroline Spacek (Beaumont, Texas) was named to the MAC All-Defensive Team.
This is the second time that Yun has been named First Team All-MAC, earning the honor in 2019. Yun finished this season second on the team in batting average, hitting .352 with 51 hits, nine doubles, one triple and 11 homeruns. She registered 32 RBI with a .655 slugging percentage. She drew a team-high 22 walks and was 13-for-13 in stolen bases attempts. In MAC play, Yun hit .362 with 42 hits, seven doubles, one triple, 10 homeruns and 29 RBI, while recording a .698 slugging percentage and stealing 11 bases.
This is the first time Englant has earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team. This season, Englant led the Bobcats with a .364 batting average. The leadoff hitter recorded 60 hits, seven doubles, one triple 10 RBI and scored 35 runs, while drawing seven walks. Englant also led the team in stolen bases, going 30-of-33.In the field, Englant registered a .970 fielding percentage, recording 91 putouts and six assists. In MAC play, Englant hit .346 with 46 hits, 29 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple and went 21-of-22 in stolen bases.
Joining Englant on the All-MAC Second Team is Vaughn. Vaughn's addition to the lineup this season was pivotal to the Ohio offense. Overall, Vaughn hit .309 with 43 hits, 11 doubles, 11 homeruns, a team-high 39 RBI, while scoring 26 runs. Vaughn also registered a .626 slugging percentage, while drawing 14 walks and stealing two bases. In MAC play, Vaughn hit .298 with 34 hits, 10 homeruns and 33 RBI. She also recorded a .974 fielding percentage at second. Vaughn also hit a walk-off homerun on April 16 against Bowling Green to give Ohio the 4-3 extra inning victory
This is the first time the Spacek has earned a MAC postseason honor, placing herself on the All-Defensive Team. Overall this season, Spacek recorded a .996 fielding percentage at first base. She registered 257 putouts, 15 assists, while committing only one error. In MAC play, Spacek recorded a .995 fielding percentage, with 207 putouts, 13 assists and one error. She also helped turn seven double plays.
