The Bobcats offense came to rally in the top of the seventh. With one out, Wycuff doubled and then moved to third when Book reached on a single, putting runners on first and third with two outs. Hummel then took advantage and crushed a two RBI double to clear the bases, tying the game at 2-2. Moments later, Bare and Farmer recorded back-to-back doubles, putting Ohio up 4-2. After a Miami pitching change, an RBI single from Westler scored Farmer, giving Ohio a 5-2 lead. In the end, Ohio scored five runs, all with two outs, on six hits, to take a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh.
Miami looked to mount a rally of their own in the bottom of the inning. With one out, the RedHawks scored on back-to-back doubles, however, Miller and the Ohio defense were able to get the final two batters to fly out, securing the 5-3 victory for the Bobcats.
