FARMVILLE, Va. – The Ohio field hockey team (2-7, 2-7 MAC) returned to action on Sunday afternoon (April 11), falling to Longwood (4-4, 4-4 MAC), 1-0.
The Bobcats defense battled for 60 minutes, fending off Longwood's 16 total shots, 12 of them on goal, to keep the game scoreless through three full quarters.
Longwood broke the deadlock in the 50th minute when Rio Weber scored with an assist from Kolbey Donahue to give the Lancers a late 1-0 lead. The Bobcats were unbale to break through the Longwood defense over the final 10 minutes, falling, 1-0.
In goal, junior keeper Nele Graner (Bonn, Germany) played 45 minutes, allowing one goal and making seven saves, while freshman Macy Lotze (Louisville, Ky.) played 15 minutes, making three saves.
Ohio is back in action tomorrow (April 12) to wrap up the series with Longwood. Game time is set for 12 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
