MUNCIE, Ind. --The Ohio field hockey team (0-3, 0-3 MAC) returned to action on Friday (March 19), falling at Ball State (2-3, 2-1 MAC), 2-1, inside the Briner Sports Complex.
Senior midfielder Julian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio) scored Ohio's first goal of the season in the 51st minute. She also led the team with four shots on goal.
Ball State scored its goals in the fifth and 37th minutes by redshirt senior defender Rachel Pereira and freshman forward Maureen Donegan, respectively.
The Bobcats outshot the Cardinals, 8-7, and held a corner advantage, 8-5. Junior goalkeeper Nele Graner (Bonn, Germany) saved three of the seven shots she faced.
Ohio and Ball State are set to square off again on Saturday (March 20) at 1 p.m. ET.
