KENT, Ohio -- The Ohio soccer team (2-2, 2-2 MAC) picked a second-straight victory by earning a 3-1 road win over Mid-American Conference rival Kent State (2-2, 2-2 MAC) on Thursday (March 18) at Dix Stadium.

After suffering a pair of 1-0 losses to Miami and Bowling Green, the Bobcats have bounced back by outscoring Akron and Miami 6-1 en route to back-to-back victories.

"Great team win today," said head coach Aaron Rodgers. "We have been defending well so far this season. We just knew we had to focus on creating more and finishing our chances. Very proud of how positive this group has been and how much they are for each other's success."

Ohio netted three goals over the first 63 minutes of the match to secure the triumph over the Golden Flashes.

The Bobcats struck in the first minute on a goal by senior midfield Jenni Santacaterina (Geneva, Ill.) that was set up by an assist from junior forward Abby Townsend (Powell, Ohio).

Ohio made it a 2-0 affair in the 28th minute when sophomore defender Heather McGuire (Hamilton, Ohio) found the back of the net off an assist by freshman forward/midfield Shae Robertson (Lexington, Ky.).

The Bobcats expanded upon their two-goal halftime lead in the 63rd minute when freshman midfield/defender Carsyn Prigge (Lexington, Ky.) potted her first collegiate goal, with junior defender Morgan Collica (Aurora, Ohio) providing the assist.

Kent State got on the board when junior defender Tianna Harris scored in the 75th minute, but that's as close as the Bobcats allowed the Flashes to get.

Senior goalkeeper Sydney Malham (Nashville, Tenn.) provided Ohio with a steady effort to highlight another strong defensive performance for Ohio. The reigning MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week faced 14 shots and made five saves.

Oho will look to make it three in a row when it visits Amherst, N.Y., on Sunday (March 21) to take on Buffalo in a 1 p.m. ET matchup.
