AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving team competed in the three-day Akron Last Chance Meet Feb. 26-28 inside Ocasek natatorium in Akron, Ohio.
Sophomore Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:52.81. She also placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:59.99.
Freshman Gabrielle Brust (Granville, Ohio) placed second in the 100-yard fly, coming in at 54.44, before placing fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (55.44) and the 200-yardfly (2:00.11).
Senior Katherine Garrity (Eagan, Minn.) finished third in the 500 free and fourth in the 400-yard IM (4:21.82). Garrity also added a second-place finish in the 1560-yard freestyle, clocking in at 16:57.01.
Sophomore McKenzie Grau (Mason, Ohio) took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, coming in at 50.88. Grau also placed fifth in the 50-yard free (23.46) and third in the 200-yard IM (2:04.23).
Redshirt sophomore Kelsey Morgan (Pickerington, Ohio) added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing the race in 2:18.49.
On the relay front, the 200-yard medley relay team of Brust, Morgan, Grau and redshirt sophomore Kendra Sheehan (Columbus, Ohio) finished in third with a time of 1:43.12. The 200-yard freestyle relay quad of Grau, Fortman, freshman Meg Voigt (Bryan, Ohio), freshman Mollie Brackett (Appleton, Wis.) placed second, finishing in 1:34.05, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Grau, Brackett, Fortman and sophomore Grace Riddle (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished in third place with a time of 3:28.92.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 6 when Ohio takes on Eastern Michigan. The meet is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. inside the Ohio University Aquatics Center. The meet will serve as Senior Day for the Bobcats.
