ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio women's basketball MAC game against Eastern Michigan, scheduled for Jan. 2 at 1 p.m., has been postponed due to Ohio not being able to meet the minimum amount of scholarship players available to play, as required by the conference to compete.
Last week, the MAC announced that it has modified its 2021-22 rescheduling policy. The decision was unanimously supported by the Conference's Directors of Athletics. For men's and women's basketball, a team must meet a minimum threshold of seven scholarship student-athletes and one coach to play a game. If a team does not have the necessary number of participants, and elects not to play, the game shall be a no contest if it cannot be rescheduled.
The Bobcats are now scheduled to begin conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 5 when Ohio travels to play Akron. Tip-off is currently scheduled for 7 p.m.
