Ohio Baseball Announces 2022 Schedule

ATHENS, Ohio—The Ohio baseball program released their 2022 schedule today (Dec. 2), as announced by head coach Craig Moore. The Bobcats will play 56 games, including 40 Mid-American Conference matchups.

"We've built a very competitive 2022 schedule. Starting with our non-conference slate, we have several teams that finished at the top of their leagues last season, which will prepare us for when league play begins," said Moore. "Another positive with this year's schedule is that we have added back some mid-week games, which will aid in the development of some of our younger players by getting them on the field."

Ohio kicks off their season with a three-game series in against University of South Carolina Upstate (Feb. 18-20). The next weekend, the Bobcats head to Eastern Kentucky for a three-game series (Feb. 25-27), followed by a road trip to Evansville (March 4-6). Ohio wraps up their stretch of road games in Lexington for one game against Kentucky (March 9).

Like the 2021 season, the conference game format will consist of a four-game weekend series, including doubleheaders on Saturdays. Doubleheaders will consist of one seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game. The Bobcats' open the home portion of the schedule and conference play at Bob Wren Stadium against Northern Illinois (March 11-13). They'll return to action a few days later to take on Marshall (March 15) before continuing the stretch of home games against Kent State (March 18-20).

"The conference again will be tough from top to bottom," said Moore. "With only four out of 11 teams going to the tournament, it will be important that we stay focused on every series that we play, no matter the opponent."

The Bobcats continue conference games on the road in Bowling Green (March 25-27) and Central Michigan (April 1-3) before returning to Bob Wren to take on Morehead State (April 5). The Bobcats host Toledo for a four-game series (April 8-10) before Ohio travels to Marshall (April 12).  MACtion picks back up in Athens for a four-game series against Eastern Michigan (April 15-17), followed by three midweek games. First, the Bobcats travel to Kentucky to play Morehead State (April 19) before returning to Athens for a doubleheader against Canisius (April 23).

Ohio will close out the season with a stretch of conference games, starting at Miami (April 29-May 1), followed by Akron (May 6-8), Ball State (May 13-15) and concluding at Bob Wren Stadium against Western Michigan (May 19-20).

The 2022 MAC tournament will be from May 25-28; the regular-season champion will host.
