Ohio Football Wraps Up Season at Bowling Green on Black Friday

ATHENS, Ohio-- The Ohio football team (3-8, 3-4 MAC) is back for another week of MACtion this Friday, Nov. 26 when the Bobcats take on Bowling Green(3-8 1-6 MAC). Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. at Peden Doyt L. Perry Stadium. The game can be seen on CBSSN where Chris Lewis and Donte Whitner will have the call.

The Bobcats' matchup can also be heard on the Ohio Sports Network from Learfield. Russ Eisenstein returns for his 14th season as the "Voice of the Bobcats" and will be joined by Ohio alum Rob Cornelius, who has been a part of the broadcasts for two decades.

SERIES HISTORY VS. BOWLING GREEN
This is the 72nd all-time meeting between the Bobcats and Bowling Green, with Ohio behind in the all-time series, 30-40-2. 

Ohio and Bowling Green at met Nov. 28, 2020; the Bobcats dominated, defeating the Falcons 52-10.

LAST MATCHUP VS. BOWLING GREEN
Ohio and Bowling Green last met Nov. 28, 2020, as the Bobcats pulled out a 52-10 victory at home. 

Ohio outgained Bowling Green, 436-306. Kurtis Rourke finished the contest with 63 passing yards with 10 completions on 11 attempts, and threw for  one touchdown. De'Montre Tuggle rushed for 186 total yards on 15 attempts.

Bowling Green quarterback Matt McDonald completed 9 of 20 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown while running back Andrew Clair led the way with 120 rushing yards on 15 attempts. Darren Anders led the way defensively for Bowling Green, finishing with 13 total tackles and one forced fumble.

SCOUTING BOWLING GREEN
Bowling Green enters this matchup with the Bobcats with a 3-8 record overall and a 1-6 MAC record, good for sixth place in the MAC East division.

Bowling Green averages 21.45 points a game, and have scored 7 and 17 points in their last two games respectively. Their defense is 32.55 points a game. The Falcons average 103.1 rushing yards per game, while putting up an average of 211.18 yards per game through the air. 

Quarterback Matt McDonald has led the way under center for Bowling Green, having played in all 11 games, going 212-of-356 with 11 touchdowns, 2300 yards and 7 touchdowns.

On the ground, McDonald also has the most attempts (75), while Terion Stewart has the most yards (414) on 61 attempts, with five touchdowns.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Ohio Bobcats (3-8, 3-4) fell to Toledo (4-3, 6-5) on Tuesday night (Nov. 16) by a score of 23-35. The Bobcats were led offensively by Kurtis Rourke, who threw for 233 yards and threw one touchdown; while on the defensive side of the ball, Tariq Drake had seven total tackles, including three solo.

SCOUTING OHIO
Ohio is 3-8 overall and 3-4 in the MAC after falling to Toledo last Tuesday. 

Overall, the Bobcats are averaging 23.73 points per game to go along with 384.9 total yards per game. 

De'Montre Tuggle leads the ground game with 762 yards, while averaging 75.0 yards per game, with seven touchdowns on the ground. O'Shaan Allison adds 291 yards on the ground, while Armani Rogers adds 617 yards on 89 carries and six touchdowns.

Quarterback Kurtis Rourke is 157-of-235 with 1,698 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Meanwhile, quarterback Armani Rogers is 29-of-49 with 350 yards.

Tyler Walton leads the receivers with 32 catches for 380 yards and two touchdowns.

COLLINS AND GERMANO ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT 
Ohio football head coach Tim Albin announced that defensive coordinators/safeties coach Ron Collins and co-defensive coordinator/defensive ends coach Pete Germano will retire at the conclusion of the season.

Collins spent 10 seasons on the Ohio football coaching staff, including three as the program's defensive coordinator/safeties coach. He was elevated to defensive coordinator on Feb. 5, 2019, after spending seven years as linebackers coach and two as co-defensive coordinator.

Germano spent five seasons in his second stint on the Ohio football coaching staff. Prior to the 2019 season, head coach Frank Solich promoted Germano to co-defensive coordinator to go along with his duties coaching the defensive ends.

AN NCAA RECORD THAT MIGHT NEVER BE BROKEN
On Oct. 16 at Buffalo, quarterback Armani Rogers, on the first play of Ohio's second drive, took the ball to his left, sprinting 99 yards for the touchdown. The run set a new NCAA record for the longest run by a quarterback. The mark was previously held by Mark Malone who ran for a 98-yard touchdown in 1979. 

ROURKE SOLID VS MIAMI
Kurtis Rourke was solid against Miami, going 23-of-32 for 288 yards and three touchdowns. 

ROURKE RETURNS vs. KENT STATE
Quarterback Kurtis Rourke led Ohio against Kent State on Saturday, Oct. 23. 

Rourke led the Bobcats against Kent State. After entering the game in the first quarter, Rourke set career highs by completing 31-of-38 passes, good for an 81 percent completion rating. He also passed for a career-high 308 yards. On the ground, Rourke rushed for 49 yards on seven carries, scoring two of the Bobcats' three touchdowns.

MAC MALE SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
After his performance against Kent State, Kurtis Rourke was named the MAC Mal Scholar Athlete of the week on Oct. 27. 

ROGERS STEPS UP AGAINST CMU
Quarterback Armani Rogers earned his first start of the season on Saturday against CMU and made the most out of it. 

Rogers went 13-of-18 for 190 yards. He also ran for 37 yards on 15 carries, scoring one touchdown. 

A GREAT WEEK FOR DE'MONTRE
Running back De'Montre Tuggle had a great week in the awards category for his play on Oct. 2 at Akron. He was named the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week Honorable Mention

Tuggle led Ohio offensively this weekend, helping the Bobcats open MAC play with a 34-17 victory at Akron - the first for first year head coach Tim Albin. Tuggle, a redshirt fifth year from Channelview, Texas, finished the game with a career-high 201 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown. Tuggle rushed for an average of 11.8 yards per carry and rattled off a 63-yard rush on the Bobcats' second drive of the game.

MAC EAST DEFENSIVE POW
Defensive end Will Evans was named the MAC East DPOW on Oct. 4. 

Evans led Ohio on the defensive end. The redshirt fifth year from Augusta, Ga., finished the game with six total tackles, all solo. He also finished the game with two sacks for 11 yards and two tackles for loss. Evans also registered one pass breakup and forced one fumble in the win.

MAC EAST SPECIAL TEAMS POW
Punter Jonah Wieland was named the Mid-American Conference East Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 20. 

The redshirt 5th year transfer led Ohio on special teams on Thursday (Sept. 16) at Louisiana. Wieland recorded four punts 165 yards for an average of 41.2 yards per punt, while recording a long punt of 46 yards, while placing two punts within the 20.

MONSTER DAY FOR TUG

Running back De'Montre Tuggle registered a career day on the ground for the Bobcats against Akron. 

Tuggle ran for a career-high 201 yards on only 17 carries and scored one touchdown in the 35-17 victory. 

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM
Redshirt junior linebacker Bryce Houston has taken advantage of his first season starting.

Houston leads Ohio in total tackles with 94, while registering 44 assisted, 50 solo tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and one quarterback hurries. 

Houston set a career-high mark at Buffalo, recording 15 tackles, including 11 solo and four assisted. 

ALVINNNNNNN
Redshirt senior Alvin Floyd is helping lead the Bobcats on the defensive end as well. 

He is third on the team with 57 total tackles, 28 assisted and 29 solo. He also has one forced fumble, one pass break up and has one interception. 

MAN THE CANNONS
Redshirt sophomore linebacker Cannon Blauser has made the most out of moving into a starting role. On the season, Blauser has 77 tackles, 35 solo and 42 assisted with 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery. 

On Sept. 25 at Northwestern, Blauser led Ohio with seven total tackles and six solo, with a tackle for loss, quarterback hurry and his first fumble recovery of the season.

At Akron on Oct. 2, Blauser added two sacks.

On Oct. 23 against Kent State, Blauser set a career mark with 14 tackles, with six solo and eight assisted and 1.5 tackles for loss.
