The Bobcats defeated the Falcons in a grueling five-set battle on Saturday (Nov.13). In the first set, Ohio jumped out to an early lead, but a six-point run by Bowling Green put them up 11-10. After trading a few points, the Bobcats got back to work and went on a run of their own to extend their lead. The Falcons fought hard to tie the set up at 23-23 but Ohio refused to settle and took the first, 25-23.
In set two, a resilient Bowling Green achieved a 9-1 lead over the Bobcats, but Ohio never gave up and slowly started to close the gap. Ohio was able to take the lead late in the set, but a three-point run by the Falcons put Bowling Green just out of reach and the Bobcats dropped the set 22-25.
The third set was a back-and-forth battle that brought 12 ties and four lead changes. After Ohio tied the set at 22-22, the Bobcats scored two more to give them the set-point. AÂ successful challenge from the Ohio bench on the following point allowed the Bobcats to head into the fourth with a 2-1 lead over the Falcons.
Meanwhile, set four was another tight match-up between Ohio and Bowling Green. However, the Falcons created some separation late in the set to tie the match.
The Bobcats dominated in the fifth and final set, creating as large as a six-point lead over the Falcons. The final kill of the match came from no other than fifth year opposite hitter
Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio). This marks Nedoma's 1313 career kill and her final kill in the Convocation Center. In addition to Nedoma, Ohio volleyball would like to thank seniors
