ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (10-17, 10-6 MAC) was swept by Bowling Green (19-7, 15-1 MAC) on Friday (Nov. 12) in the Convocation Center.
In the first, the Bobcats worked their way back from a seven-point deficit and cut the lead to two late in the set. Unfortunately, Ohio was unable to keep their streak alive and dropped set one, 25-22. The second set was another battle between the Bobcats and the Falcons that resulted in three ties. Despite their efforts, Ohio could not clinch the lead and fell, 21-25. Set three resulted in another heartbreaker and the Bobcats were defeated, 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 20-25) by the Falcons.
Ohio was outhit .245 to .211 by Bowling Green and was hindered by 13 service aces.
Fifth year opposite hitter
Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) led the Bobcats with 14 kills, while sophomore libero
Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) led the team with 17 digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) hit a match high of .455 with 5 kills and no errors. Hoerlein also collected a solid block and three block assists. Sophomore setter
Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) matched Bowling Green's assist leader with 33 assists and pocketed seven digs.
The Bobcats will be back in the Convocation tomorrow (Nov. 13) at 2 P.M. EST for Senior Day.
