Ohio Baseball Adds Four to the Roster During Early Signing Period

ATHENS, Ohio-- The Ohio baseball team is adding four new student-athletes to the roster during the early signing period. Head coach Craig Moore announced today (Nov. 10) that Billy Adams, Gideon Antle, Tyler Minneci and Carter Sabol will be joining the Bobcats for the 2022-23 season.

"We are extremely excited with the addition of these four individuals to Ohio University and the Bobcat Family," Moore said. "This is a talented group and we believe there are several that will step-in right away and play major roles for us in the 2023 season."

Billy Adams (Medina, Ohio) plays baseball for St. Ignatius High School and has earned two varsity letters with the team. He was named the 2021 St. Ignatius Baseball Team Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year. Adams has also played for the Lake Eerie WarHawks since 2017. Adams'  favorite team is the Atlanta Braves.

Adams has two brothers, Kyle and Jeremy,  and a sister, Makensie. He plans to study sport management while at Ohio.

Gideon Antle (Licking, Mo.) played baseball at Jefferson College for the 2020-21 season, where he made the First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region. Prior to his time at Jefferson, Antle earned four varsity letters for baseball and one for basketball at Licking High School. In his spare time, he likes hunting, fishing and playing video games.

Antle is the son of Harvey and Amy Antle and has three brothers: Samuel, Malachi and Silas. He will study physical activity and sport coaching and hopes to play baseball professionally or coach collegiate baseball.

Tyler Minneci (Wake Forest, N.C.) has played baseball for Cardinal Gibbons High School and Crossroads Flex High School and is currently attending Pro5 Baseball Academy. While at Cardinal Gibbons, Minneci was named the 2019 Best Student Athlete, earned two varsity letters for baseball and made the Honor Roll from 2018-2020. His favorite band is Rush and he owns 12 guitars.

Minneci is the son of Carl and Kristin Minneci; he is expecting to major in pre-medicine with the goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

Carter Sabol (Nokomis, Ill.) played baseball at Lake Land College and Nokomis High School, earning four varsity letters for both basketball and baseball while at Nokomis High School. Sabol was named All-State First Team in 2018 and All-State Second Team in 2019 for baseball while making All-State Honorable Mention in 2018, All-State Second Team in 2019 and All-State First Team in 2020 for basketball.  His favorite team is the Los Angeles Angels. 

Sabol is the son of John and Erin Sabol and has three siblings: Brayden, Audrey and Alivia. He intends to major in business.
